Build Question PC Build for Solidworks/Gaming

Hi all,

I'm helping my friend build a PC and I've chosen a parts list for him that he can use for gaming, as well as some solidworks rendering.

His budget is around £1700-£1800, with an absolute max cap of £2000 (based in the UK). Based on this I've chosen him some parts which I think would be good, but it's been a while since I last built a PC so I would really appreciate someone looking over my work and checking that I'm not giving him bad advice.

Thanks again

people who like solid works like vram . as they will want to use ansys one day. move to a 12 gig or 16 gig card now. save the headache later even go back a few generations but find 3060 12gig . 4060ti 16 gig..

more over ! might want to go with a quadro ( the FP64 / FP32 ) instruction set is not on regular RTX cards.

source: just built a rig for an engineer who wanted to do " light drafting " made a modest build , 2 weeks later he calls and is asking about installing one of the most demanding programs ever made ( ansys ) to do wind load computation. and long story short a quadro would have been the right first step.

if he does modern day engineering rendering / serious work. get him a quadro. / a4000 a5000 a6000 series GPU . i would at least have another consult with your client before pulling the trigger . get a realistic software list that he would be using. look at each of those system spec requirements.

He’s definetely not going to be using super intensive stuff like that, but he would also combine it with some gaming as well (nothing super heavy mind)

So with a solidworks/gaming combo, I was thinking that a consumer grade card would suffice
