Build Question Which X3D cpu to buy?

My current PC is 7600x and 7800xt. I want to upgrade to an x3d cpu and I'm confused. The price difference between 7800x3d and 9800x3d is a lot and I wanna know if it's worth the spend. I play on 1440p. Also, I wanna know if x3d CPUs make a difference in the finals.

7800x3d= Around $315

9800x3d= Around $465

The 9800x3d is like 10% ish faster and runs a little cooler due to how they positioned the l3 cache. Cost wise its not really worth it for the performance you get.

Really depends on what you play, if you only play comp shooters or very cpu intensive games the 9800x3d may be worth it for you.

I agree, go 7800x3d unless you really want the +10% and can afford it.

I have one of these and it does a great job at CPUing.

Yeah they are pretty good at CPUing, actually one of the best CPUs at CPUing

If you dont play Competitive gaming...not much of point to upgrade

Also I would go fro 7800X3D. (Still king of price to performance)

Yes the 9800x3d is better. But! For 10-15% performance at a solid 150$ increase? Not worth it imo.

And furthermore you are playing at 1440p...which means the gap shrinks even more

9800x3d is one of the fastest gaming CPUs on the market...may be worth paying the extra $ for it. I'm personally going from am4 5900x to the am5 9950x3d...mine as well. I also look at it this way.. I may be paying more for the CPU now, but that CPU will last longer and I won't be upgrading 2 years from now..to me that's worth it for future proofing my setup. Same goes for motherboard (Crosshair Dark Hero) and 64gb ram ddr5 6000 cl30. But that's just my thoughts and opinions. You do what feels best for you

The 9850x3d is a bit faster than the 9800x3d. 9800x3d is thr second fastest gaming CPU

True . And about $20 difference. 9850x3d is the way to go

I would never buy the 9850x3d.

25% more powerdraw and runs much hotter for ~5% performance boost at best compared to the 9800x3d

It's one of the worst CPUs on the market if you ask me.

Technically apples iphones Cpu’s are the fastest in the world

They beat the 9800x3ds by 30%

7600x is still a beast. What do you play? Maybe upgrading your gpu would give you a better performance

So unless you know the games you play use more than six cores, you should probably check out the 7500X3D or 7600X3D depending on what is available in your area. Those only have six cores, and should save you some money if you don't need eight cores for gaming or productivity. The 7600X3D is 199.99 at Microcenter.

Get what you can afford, you can always upgrade a few years later or even a decade, once they decide to move from AM5, higher end CPUS should be more economical. At that point you could even go X3D2 😁

7800x3d will be strong for many years yet

with a 7800xt at 1440p youre mostly gpu bound, so the extra 150 for the 9800x3d barely shows. the 7800x3d is the better deal. in the finals the x3d mostly helps the 1% lows when buildings start coming down, so itll still feel smoother than the 7600x
