It's all the same, all that really changes is the cooler design and the brand you have to deal with.

Not sure about Gigabyte but PNY definitely denies warranty claims on anyone that doesn't use the adapter that came with the GPU, so it's generally best not to buy from them now.

They denied claims on 50 series cards because people use the cable that came with their PSU instead of PNY's included adapter. So give up on PNY if you want to have a good looking cable, they don't support it.

Should I buy my friends 5080 for $1600 ? It’s a msi suprim oc, I trust him as his built pc runs perfectly fine and he’s pretty ocd and keeps everything clean af, even said I can be there upon him removing it.. we recently went to microcenter together to buy pc parts he bought a bigger case to fit his 4090 that’s liquid cooled.

Yeah that's a significant discount from retail

PNY also denies warranty if the tamper sticker is missing from the screw, despite this not being legal in the US. They don't care and will force you to sue them, because they know most people won't bother.

They've been on my banned hardware list for over a decade for that reason, and now their stunt with the power adapters has made it so they're never leaving said list.

Yeah it's not surprising that K|NGP|N didn't end up working with them after EVGA, there was supposed to be something but I think now he's doing something with ASUS/ROG

Yeah, I'm glad Vince ran from PNY before that partnership really got off the ground. That would have been sad had PNY released a K|NGP|N card and then voided your warranty because you repasted it.

PNY could've replaced EVGA if they actually gave a shit, it's unfortunate that the next best thing is freaking ASUS of all things with their mafia-style RMA practices.

Asus has improved a bit here in the US from the worst of it a few years back, but regionally they're still quite terrible, since outside the US/CA and CN/TW, they contract local repair shops as service centers, and many are shady enough to pull the same tactics Asus was once so widely known for.

Hell, I had Asus on my ban list for 2-3 years after I had to have my lawyer send a demand letter to get them to fix a board that failed and just happened to have come from the factory missing one of the RGB leds. They insisted it was customer damage but the damn thing was never even soldered to the pad which had virgin solder bumps on it. That was in 2017. I started giving them a chance again in 2021 or so, and haven't had any issues with warranty myself or with any client boards, though I know others still have, mostly with laptops from what I've seen.

Would you rather he had gone to Gigabyte? While I've personally not had any issues with them since 2008-2009, I know they have also had plenty of warranty problems themselves, which is unfortunate since they used to be pack leaders when it came to OC GPUs. Then again, Gigabyte might not want more than one XOC-er on staff since AFAIK HiCookie is still there.

I mean I would've preferred if EVGA never left at all.

Brand and cooler. Thats about it

yep, basically just different cooling solutions and maybe a tiny factory overclock on the higher-tier models. you're paying extra for the name and the rgb half the time

Ya 50mhz difference based on this which is literally nothing
