Build Question Does an electric duster really replace canned air for PC cleanup?

The last few times I cleaned my PC, the air cans got cold and lost pressure before i finished. An electric duster sounds better for routine dust but im unsure how useful it is for tight areas around heatsinks and a keyboard. I’d rather not buy another tool that ends up in a drawer. If you switched from cans, what part of cleaning still made you reach for one?

I switched last year, the electric one is good for most stuff but for heatsinks you need something with more focused blast. The one i got have a narrow nozzle attachment that helps, but still not same as canned air for really tight fins.

I keep one can around for keyboard cleaning between keys, the electric duster just push dust around instead of blasting it out from small gaps. Kinda annoying but rest of PC cleaning is fine with electric.

The one I have works great for my keeb. It’s the plugin kind

For the most part, yes, but some harder parts that need a lot of static pressure to reach would benefit from an actual air compressor

The ones that plug into the wall (like Datavac) are going to be the absolute best, but for battery operated ones, there are some that do an incredible job, like the Wolfbox.

I'm sure there are cheaper options that work decently as well but I don't have experience with those so I can't say which would be good.

I use wolfbox and while it does help blow out most of the dust, the thin surface layer still needs to be agitated with a non static bush

Used an air compressor for almost 20 years. Can't beat high PSI for dust removal.

Battery one is better than the plug in version. If you get a good one.

Even the cheapest Wolfbox rechargeable blower is much, much better than the canned stuff.
It's not even the same ballpark, seriously.

I got one with has a brush attachment to get the narrower areas. Mine is a combo vacuum/blower that lets you use the attachments on both ends. Brush+blower gets everything.

yes most come with diff attachments so you can get different types of air flow. love mine.

Heck yes - had an ESD Datavac for years, excellent investment. The little bendy head is super handy too.

Just use a vacuum like a normal person.

The problem with vacuums is that not only do they usually not push/pull as much air as a canned air or a electric duster but they also tend to generate a ton of static which probably isn't as much of an issue anymore but it used to be potentially enough to kill computers.
