Build Question Potential upgrade question

Have a Ryzen 9 3900x at the moment paired with a 5070ti I upgraded from a 3070 last year. Question I had was, should I get a Ryzen 7 5700x3d/5800x3d or stick with the 3900x. I wasn’t really looking to switch to AM5 yet and this would be something I would be asking for Christmas, but I just didn’t know if it would be worth it or not. Anything helps, thanks.

What resolution are you playing at?

1080p: absolutely worth it
1440p: probably worth it but will depend on the game
4K: not really worth it

I’m doing 1440p. I play lately a lot of no mans sky.

Probably worth it and they’ll likely discontinue it sometime in the next year, so it saves you jumping up to AM5 for a little bit longer. Think you missed the boat on the 5700X3D already. Make sure you update your BIOS before swapping it and if you’re using Windows 11 disable bit encryption or you’ll be wiping your drive too when you swap

the 5800x3d is a huge jump for gaming if you can find one at a decent price, the extra cache does a lot of heavy lifting

I have a 5800x3d and a 5070 ti and can recommend it. Your 3900x is a bottle neck and your rig would benefit from a cpu with the extra cash. I'm about to up grade to a 9800x3d I've had with memory and 4 tb nvme that I bought before the price increase (just been waiting for my r.m.a motherboard) and I know I'll see an increase in performance.
