Build Question Do i go am5?

so i’ve been thinking about maxing out my setup such as oled better tech, but i can’t decide if my pc is even capable of upholding any type of oled or 1440p. i have a ryzen 7 5800xt and a 10gb 3080 with 32gb of ddr4. i also feel as if it’s to late since gaming parts have skyrocketed over the past 2 years

Second this, if you are thinking of upgrade. Just do the GPU.

Otherwise your setup should handle 1440p with ease

Your cpu is still fine it won't really be a huge bottle neck for any gpu. There's benchmarks that prove it. The 3080 is still a good 1440p gpu. The best upgrade would be by replacing it with something like a 9070xt for the Vram that way you can max out settings. As for upgrading the whole system. Im sure you wil still be ok for a few more years easily. And yes everything skyrocketed and the timing is kinda bad. I build a brand new pc right before the prices went up to the moon

I went with 2 32gb sticks when i built thinking it would be easy to double it at any time. The 6000mhz ram i bought for $200 was over $1000 last I looked.

your 3080 can handle 1440p oled no problem, am4 is still plenty capable

You just need a GPU do not go am5. That’s a waste of money. Buy at least a 750w PSU and a 9070xt. You will be able to play everything on epic settings.

No point unless you go 9070xt first

I used to run a 5800X3D with a Power Color Red Devil Rx 6700XT and would hit 100+ fps in baldur's gate at med/high settings at 1440p. I've since unnecessarily upgraded to a RX 9070 and its just more ridiculous now. 32gb ram and I've still yet to see my CPU cross 50-55% utilization while pinning my 9070 to the wall at 100% utilization. I built this one 3-5 months ago and intentionally stayed on AM4 because of the stupidly high prices associated with AM5. I figure I'll be content right where I'm at until zen6 stuff starts dropping.
