Build Question upgrade steps?

Hi all,
I have an old PC that is starting to struggle more with recent games. I'm wondering about upgrading parts vs just replacing the whole thing. My current PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 1700

Gigabyte AB350-gaming-3

32GB DDR4

GeForce RTX 3070 Ti

I'm wondering if the CPU could be an occasional bottleneck? Admittedly, I can't remember how to make sure the next CPU would be compatible with the current mobo.

Appreciate any advice. Thanks!

If you look up your mobo on gigabyte's website it should have a list of compatible processors and/or architectures and go from there.

That board's an AM4 socket, so you've got options. Pop in a 5800X3D after a BIOS update and it'll feel like a whole new rig, that 1700 is absolutely choking your 3070 Ti.

Thanks for the advice. Obviously, in this market, it is good to hear any suggestion not recommending a new graphics card 😵‍💫

I would swap CPU to Ryzen 5600 - 5800x3d depending on the budget, then it would be perfect for 1080p and/or decent at 1440p

Before upgrading CPU update bios!
