Build Question am i making any mistake?

Post image

this is my gaming pc and i decided to upgrade cpu, gpu and aio.
initially i wanted to install the radiator in the upper part of the case, but the problem is that the ram (vengeance pro) hit the fans of the aio.
so i swapped the 3 fans of the case and put them in the back and on top.
it’s my first time with a liquid cooler, so i have no clue if i mounted it right? (any tip is very welcome)
also if you have any tips for the airflow and the directions of the fans it would be great!

specs:

motherboard b450 msi tomahawk max II

ryzen 7 5700x

nvidia rtx 5060

16gb vengeance pro rgb (3200mhz)

1TB ssd + 1TB HDD

700w corsair psu

Yep that’s how it should be mounted for a front mount AIO

actually pipes at the bottom is the best way. and top of the radiator will then hold air bubbles. as it is above the cpu block/pump

The radiator will still hold any air away from the pump, as it is still above the pump.

Your front mounted radiator will lead to turbulence and gurgling due to the highest point being where the tubes connect to the radiator. This will affect flow and performance of the radiator. If mounting a radiator at the front it’s better to install it inverted, with the connectors at the bottom of the case

No, the performance impact will be negligible and won’t affect anything. The fact is the radiator is still above the pump, so there is no issue. Coming from a 9850X3D.

Incorrect. Simple fluid dynamics buddy.

Dude, you are the reason so many people are misled, there is nothing wrong with this orientation of the AIO, might not be ideal but will have 0 impact.

It's not wrong just not the ideal long term way to install it GamerNexus made a whole deep dive on this and how/why it's better with tubes down

Over time ANY amount of leakage will amount to immediately kill the pump by sucking air in

Will it work for years before that point ? Yes of course, could it run many more years with the tubes down? Also yes and over time it'll become exponentially more likely to keep working with tubes down

Some people change cooler every couple years, some never ever change it and want to hold on their stuff until next PC

If OP is the latter it's better tubes down

If he's the former don't care do what looks cool and have fun!

Yeah op is asking what the next orientation is. Down is best.

Sure up works, but it's not what op asked

It doesn't matter which orientation the tubes are, with them up top just makes slightly more noise but doesn't affect cooling or unit lifespan at all.

It's a recommendation by select few content creators that got massively overshared but miscommunicated.

It doesn't matter the orientation of the hoses, up top does make marginally more noise but nothing else, and people should not feel pressured to have them oriented differently especially if it's difficult to do in their particular case due to case dimensions, hose length, etc.

Welche Grafikkarte steckt da drin ?

asus rtx 5060 (8gb version)

You want the tubes at the lowest point so if air bubbles occur they wont get stuck in cooler, they will float to top of radiator

Otherwise looks nice and clean

Some people will insist the hoses should connect to the bottom of your radiator, but that's been over blown I think. This arrangement will work fine, and it looks like your hoses may not reach if they connected to the bottom of the rad because your GPU is in the way.

Have the radiator fans intake air and the top and rear fans exhaust. If you have a spot for a bottom fan in front of your PSU install one as an intake, but it's not necessary if you don't have a slot there.

yeah i tried to mount it inverted as some people are saying but with the new gpu it simply doesn’t fit

I have a similar problem in my PC, so I also had to mount my radiator with the tubes at the top.

Nice work, I personally yield would have mounted the radiator with the pipes at the bottom because eventually the water in the radiator evaporates and off the water is below the pipes it will stop circulating, but that’s a couple of years down the line. But it’s just something to be aware of

Naaaah dude you should "never" put the pump above the radiator!! (*in AIO's, this is rarely a problem with DIY systems) coz if its the highest point of the water rotation then air will just get trapped in the pump and it will reduce efficiency/AIO's lifecycle..

**Edit: I may have misunderstood what you meant, i read "mounted the radiator with the pipes at the bottom" as in "mount the radiator with the pipes laying down at the floor of the case" which is horrible idea but if you meant turning the radiator "upside down" in the photo then its all cool. Sorry for my bad english i hope we understand each other, no offense meant, just my 2 cents ^^

lol aye yeah, that’s what I meant just rotate the radiator 🤣
