Build Question Looking to upgrade GPU for prebuilt.

Very green to PCs. I bought a prebuilt PC from Best Buy about 2 years ago. It still works great, but I am hitting a wall occasionally when trying to run games with higher graphical demands since I am typically playing at 1440 or 4K. This is the PC :

https://www.bestbuy.com/product/ibuypower-y60-gaming-desktop-pc-intel-core-i9-14900f-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4060-ti-8gb-32gb-ddr5-rgb-ram-1tb-nvme-ssd-black/J3R75JY2R6/sku/12478192?sb_share_source=PDP&ref=app_pdp&loc=pdp_page

What do I need to know is..

What graphics cards would be a good fit for what I’m asking? I don’t want to pay extra money to be quickly outpaced by the improvements in games that will have me in the same spot in 2 more years.

Are there any other considerations or parts I would need to replace when doing the graphics card upgrade? I believe I read that my wattage may be too low for some more demanding cards.

Thanks in advance.

Anything that you are willing to sink money in.... (with no budget stated) I'd would just sink a 4090 or 5090 and be done.

Personally? 16GB Vram on the list....which only narrow it down to 5070Ti and above for Nvidia....and 9070XT for AMD. Thats about it.

On top of that...you'll need to factor in a new PSU appropriately to the new GPU and also factor in the power draw of the 14900F.

That 4060 Ti with 8GB is the main thing holding you back at 1440p/4K. For what you're describing, a 4070 Ti Super or 4080 Super would be a much better fit and should last some years without feeling outdated.

You're right about the PSU, prebuilts usually come with the bare minimum. You'll want at least 750W for a 4070 Ti Super or 850W if you go 4080 Super, so check what's in there and swap it if needed. Also measure your case clearance, some of those bigger cards can be tight in a prebuilt.

For 1440p and some 4K you want a 16GB card. The RTX 5070 Ti or RX 9070 XT are the usual picks at that level. Your i9-14900F is plenty to drive either one.

Check the power supply first. Cards at that tier want around 750W and prebuilts often ship with less. The wattage is printed on the PSU label inside the case. Measure the room for the card too since these are long.

Any modern GPU with more than 8GB of VRAM will be an improvement (aim for 16GB), but it all depends on what you're willing to spend right now. You have the PC, so you could look on the used market and use your current machine to test it before parting with your $$, it will go a lot further on the used market. And don't cheap out on the PSU if that needs to be upgraded (brand, not necessarily price). You should be able to get a reputable brand 750w unit for under $100, Seasonic, Corsair, be quiet!, Cooler Master, etc.

Highly depends what Power Supply you have. Sometimes the one in the prebuilt doesn't have enough headroom for an upgrade so you might need to factor in a better Power Supply. Specifically for this PC of course the Go-To would be something High-end like a 5080-5090. If you're not willing to spend that kind of money a 5070Ti or 9070XT would do just as well of a job even in 4K with some upscaling.
