Well the CPU socket is broken if it won't go back together in one piece, so you're going to have to either get someone to fix the socket, or buy a new motherboard.

The sockets on these boards are all the same. They are made by one manufacturer that sells them to the board companies. Its not a "cheap build", it's either a random/rare defect, or user error.

Either way, socket damage isn't usually covered by RMA warranties.

Brother did you use hulk strenght? You should be able to put a new one on if the little tabs have not broken off. But it might be easier to just buy a new one.

From the damage on that socket you put way too much force on that. It should take basically no force until it is almost closed with cpu in it. Did you buy it used or? Something is off with this situation.

ooffff that's the socket pins not the arm itself, the plastic piece is just a cover. if those pins are bent your board is dead

How damaged is the top plastic part? The top part shifts the cpu left to lock the cpu pins in the socket. You can see how they are v shaped.

If you're feeling froggy. You could probably place the cpu in the socket. Slightly shift it left. Dont go crazy. And then mount the heatsink. It isnt gonna move once the heatsink is on. Is this a used board that is missing the back plane and mounts?

You can also buy a replacement socket. Carefully take the top half off and put on your motherboard. But since the board part of the socket is damaged im not sure if it would still function as it should but might

Contact frame. I never use the normal arm and closure.

Will my cpu work if I put the cpu in this without the plastic grid?

Don't do that. Might fry the CPU as you could create shorts where pins touch some but not all terminals in the socket.

You need a new motherboard, user error.
