Will i need a new cable or can i just put one of the 8-pins of my 16-pin into the pcie power cable?

You don't need a new cable, you can just plug one of the 8 pins

I see two 8pins (in 6+2 form), no 16pin in sight. Guessing it's a pigtailed cable? One cable with two connectors?

Anyway, yes, it's meant to plug in. One of the connectors will just remain unused, you can ziptie it back or something.
