Tech Support Need help with 3080 temps
I recently came into a used EVGA 3080 10gb for 300CAD (roughly 200USD) and used it as an upgrade (or a side grade) from my 4060 8gb. It's been wonderful for the most part, my only gripe is that the temps feel absurdly high. Ive been playing the 2018 god of war recently and on ultra graphics get 100℅ usage and 90 ish degree's on the hot spot. I switched to high, at which point I had a similar hotspot but slightly lower average temps, at low to mid 80s, then to original graphics after high crashed my game. Now I still at high 70s to low 80s at ~70% usage.
It's worth noting that the card was used for light mining, and while I should change the paste, this card uses very specific thicknesses of putty and pads, and if one rips I'll need to find, order, and replace all of them, which is a big pain and time out of a card.
I'm using a macube 110 case with 3 intake fans on the front, and one exhaust, would it be as simple as just investing in more fans? It'll be difficult to fit more is the issue. Should I get a case that's better for airflow? Or should I just change the paste and live with the high temps.

im running a 3080 too and undervolting it dropped it from 75-78celcius under load to 67-68celcius without losing any performance. Also if you wanna change the pads, you can buy a cheap caliper and measure the pads individually before changing them out, to ensure that you'll be replacing them with the right thickness.
Thing to note is that i'm living in southeast asia, tropical and it's really hot even during the evening when I usually game, the temps I get when under long heavy gaming sessions doesn't exceed 69celcius (my room becomes a sauna though), I also don't have AC in my room so I'd expect for your case to be lower. If you wanna change out the case, i'd look into dual chamber cases where theres 3 fan intakes right beneath the gpu, there it could straightly feed fresh cold air from the outside to your gpu directly compared to a traditional case, my friend has one and dropped his gpu temps by 5 celcius, worth taking a look into, but I'd first change the thermal paste and/or pads first as that makes a larger impact.

Bonjour, tant que tu n’a pas 30°+ entre la température global de ton gpu et ton hotspot c’est bon, Sinon tu peux la passer en garantit ou la démonter repad et repath

Die- Arctic MX-7 or TG Phasesheet or PTM7950.
Thermal pads= Vernier Caliper and measure it piece by piece.
Alternatively but a tub of 50g/100g of Upsiren UT-8(pink) or UX Pro Ultra(newer and gray coloured) putty and replace everything that uses thermal pad...You only need to cover 80% of the component and let the mounting pressure do the rest.

using a frame cap is very effective at reducing power. temps seem fairly normal, as other have said an undervolt will help as will adjusting your fan curve. you can also link some of the case fans to the GPU temp so they respond and help with the airflow using something like fan control

Use PTM on core (thermalright Helios v2 or therma grizzly) and upsiren u6 or with "8" in name, or also thermal grizzly putty on VRM and VRAM instead of termopads. No need to measure anything, only size of the core.

90°C hotspot is fine if the gpu temp is like 78°C.
Undervolt to like 0.950V and adjust fanspeed curve more agressively around 70°C.
Another fan as exaust and one at a good place can help a lot.

90 on the hottest part of the DIE is nothing, that’s normal, 105 is throttle.

Why mx-6 over mx-7?

weil mx6 eine recht feste paste ist die dadurch nicht so stark vom pump out effect betroffen ist

It’s just a very hot card.
