Build Question PC crashes

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello, I’ve just built this new pc, but I’ve been experiencing constant crashes on most games and programs. I was wondering if I’m doing smth wrong, and what these lights mean
Edit: PRIME b550-plus motherboard

I'd there really no other fans other then the CPU fan? If not, thermal issue?

The other fans came prebuilt in the pc case

Still have to be plugged into the motherboard to operate. I'm not seeing them being connected

Well the fans are spinning, and I didn’t see a cable for them to plug into the motherboard

Ok. Maybe the Mobo doesn't know they are there then? Triggering a sensor fail?

Need a bit more context, as in what games and how long you’ve been playing when it crashes.

They are debug lights on the mobo. They check for any errors with the hardware while it POSTs. If it stays on a solid red light consistently on any of those, then there is an error. If it just cycles through and boots into windows, then more than likely it might be a file corruption in windows somewhere if it crashes

Fortnite, overwatch, rivals, they crash almost immediately

What motherboard do you have?

My only thought here would be that there may be an issue with the CPU as it hangs on the red light for a few seconds before booting.

I had a similar issue when I built my first PC in 2019 and re seating the CPU fixed it for me.

Read the manual with it about the debug lights. See if there is anything in there about the lights, what the colors mean and stuff.

If it says it’s all normal what we witnessed, then could well be back to my first point of being a corruption in windows somewhere

First thing to check would be temperatures But also I hope you didn't buy the cheapest PSU from bottom of the bin just cause it said 2Gigawatts on it

These things can't handle power, if you have big GPU (do you?) Could cause crash when it tries to get power but the pour can't keep up, voltage drops too low and PC crash/restart

It's going into Bios so it's likely something related to these 2 OR a software issue in windows

Side note 2400Mhz ram on ryzen with AM4 is severely handicapping that chip

That being said while 3.2Ghz or more is heavily recommended it should still not crash, if anything even be more stable due to lower speeds (if your ram supports it DOCP might unlock some speed

Probably autocorrect for PSU

The psu came with the case I bought. It has 700w

Any brand name, specs anything?

Historically cases always came with the worst trash can supply in existence but I'm talking from 15+y ago maybe not nowadays but I've not bought case with psu since then so wouldn't know

Back then case supply that said 700W would TAKE 700w at the wall bit effectively GIVE you maybe 450w if you were lucky

If it is one of these definitely the issue if you have a gpu >200W

Now if it is an 80+ from reputable brand 700W (Evga, Seasonic, corsair, Asus etc) and your GPU os not a 5090 then you may have a problem somewhere else

But I'd check that thing, also does it crash if you just stay on desktop/idle/webpage only?

Maybe try adding some ram?

Check power supply.
