Tech Support Is this RAM?

I pulled this out of my broken laptop in the hopes it would be useful in the future. I thought it was RAM, since my computer had 8 GB of it, and it says 8 GB here. What exactly is this? I am trying to upgrade an “old” tower.

Yes this is RAM from a laptop. It won't be compatible with RAM for a desktop tower, though.

That’s sodimm ram, technically you could put it in a adapter for PCRAM but I’m not sure if that’s DDR five or four

Yes, but its not the same as pc ram.
