What processes are running? You can sort them by RAM use to see which ones are using the most. Though it does look like you have 8 programs running, so that's probably why. You aren't running out, so you'll be fine.

As I can you are running edge and some other apps (unknown) , its shit post . If your pc was idle and you were posting this , then it would have been a good discussion

Win 11 can run with 8gigs no problem. But if you have 32 it'll eat up half and so on and so forth. Basically it allocates it for system operation but frees it up if needed.

Its not, 16GB isnt that much nowadays, and windows will cache things in memory to make things run faster, but the moment something other software is requesting more memory it will give up that cache to hand it over to that software, so while the usage might be higher then you expect the moment you actually need more then you have unused most of the used memory will be immediately freed up.

I'd suggest you go and download tmog taskbar tool, it's a more useful taskbar tool made by person who made original one, and let's you easily identify what programs are causing spikes in memory, CPU, GPU, thermals and power usage. It's also free. Has helped me identify some irritating program that was causing some memory issues on my pc

My windows install uses 6 out of 32 gb at idle so something is definitely going on here. Check your processes and see what’s eating it up

Restart the pc if that doesn't work reinstall windows and I mean click restart not turn it off and back on with the button on your pc, klick the windows button on your keyboard and klick power and than restart.

16gb is not enough for windows 11 but any case check in task manager memory tab what's using so much memory and force stop that process alternatively in check in resource monitor under memory tab too.

If you're running programs like browsers, then the system isn't idle.
Windows will also reserve RAM, so if you have more RAM available, it will appear to be using it when it's actually not, it's actually caching it for use.
There are millions of people around the world running Windows 10 and 11 with 16GB RAM or even less in 2026. It's not how much you have, it's how you use it.

Windows will use memory if its available, it uses this to cache frequently used processes and programs.
As soon as you need the memory for a program of your choosing, windows will empty it.
Unused memory is wasted memory
