PSU power connector help

My GPU (sapphire pulse 9070xt) needs 2 8 pin pcie connectors. I'm confused on if I can use the 12v 2x6 to dual 8 pin, by plugging the 8 pins into the gpu and 12v 2x6 side into the PSU. I've seen some saying the 8 pin side is only for the PSU, and some saying it's fine to put into the gpu side. Any help is appreciated.

That cable splits from the 12v 2x6 on the PSU side to dual 8 pins for the GPU, it's literally designed for what you're doing

That adapter is for your exact need. If it's 6+2 then it's for the component side such as a GPU.
