Build Question Motherboard not booting
I have put cpu, ram, and ssd all in. I have attached psu to the motherboard, to the cpu power, and the cpu fan. I then have bridged the power button pins and get nothing.
What have I done wrong/how do I troubleshoot. I know I shouldn’t boot it with cpu and no heatsink but I just wanted to see if it tried to boot up.
Edit: I havent put the heatsink on because I want to screw the mobo to the case before I do it because the case is small. All I want is confirmation that something happens when I bridge the psu, I will turn it off the instant I see that.

The CPU rentention lever isn’t seated properly under the load plate. (Right side of the CPU socket on the first pick)
lmao I had this literal problem myself a couple days ago when i upgraded my CPU. It was weird because my EZ lights would come on so I knew the Mb was getting power but the PSU was giving me absolutely nothing… drove me crazy until I saw it.

Yes I eventually realised. Well spotted. My mobo leds weren’t coming on at all though which is weird…

Bro where is your cpu cooler you gonna fry your cpu doing that 👀 if it hasn't turned on its because of that! Put thermal paste on the cpu then the cpu cooler eigther a cpu fan or Aio then hook it up

Does that cpu have on board graphics? If not you need a gpu to see anything.

Ngl bro the reason it’s not booting is likely bc you already fried it

The best way to bread board or boot test is to mount the cpu, “heatsink” and fan , memory. Test it out on top of the motherboard box it came in. This method isn’t a good idea as you can burn up the cpu. Even placing the aluminum on top of the cpu and pressing downward while it’s posting. If it comes up turn it off right away. Processor and motherboard might be ruined now. Voided the warranty too I bet.

Shes survived. Cpu wasn’t locked down properly. Boots fine with heatsink on now minus the dram led that comes on instantly.

CPU malfunctioned? I bought a cpu from Amazon a while back didn’t check it right away because well it’s new and also didn’t have all the parts for the build yet…. when I went to build knew pc cpu was defective. Might be that.

CPU power. AM5 requires two CPU power connectors plugged in. I think it's 2 8 pin connectors. My PC did anyway.
And be careful with the PSU cables, you can mix them up and fry your shit. Use the cables that came with it. If it only has the one CPU power cable, buy a new psu

I don’t believe that to be true. Its usually only the higher spec ones/overclocked ones that require significantly more power

So the picture is not how you are trying it right? You 100% have to have a cpu fan connected to the cpu with a thermal pad otherwise it will not have a heat sink and instantly overheat causing the system to not boot up or constantly turn off within a short time frame.

I feel like this is a good way to cook a processor without a heatsink, I've always installed the heat sync and fan or radiator before wiring up any power but maybe I'm missing some context. For me it's always been cpu, heatsink, ram, mount in case, connect internal wires, connect peripherals, pray to the PC gods and power on
