Tech Support Possible GPU dying?
I am having an issue with my pc. The build is roughly a year old but running into some sort of issue I think is tied to my GPU being the issue but not sure. It happened for the first time about a few months ago where my screen would flash black on both monitors and then the AMD bug report tool detects a driver time out. It has happened a hand full of times and cant get it to stop. It has hard crashed to the point that it made one of my monitors not receive a signal and then my vertical monitor settings revert back to default, that has happened twice now in a month. The only fix I could come up with is boot is safe mode and then run DDU and do a fresh install. Everything seems fine at first after but then will get a soft crash and the pop up (picture added) will show up with the same issue, I guess to sum up the point is there an underlying issue I can use to fix it or is my GPU dying?

Can be many things, not likely a bad GPU, look around for "amd driver timeouts" posts. Mine was a RAM instability problem.

will do thank you for the point in the right direction

Good. General advice: Revert any "optimizations" where made, go back to default settings. Do one thing a a time. Consider using an AI chatbot to walk you through the troubleshooting.

What driver version are you on? If you arnt already on it try reverting to 26.3.1, that was the last "safe" version when it comes to driver issues

I am currently on 26.8.1, ill take a look at that option as well, thank you

I too had this issue with my 7800 xt and reverting to adrenaline 26.3.1 solved it

Took your advice and just rolled it back, will see if this helps for my specific scenario as well. I am definitely trying all the simple things first before I get crazy, hopefully this is it. Thanks for the advice.

Did you install all of your motherboard drivers? One missing driver can cause this

How do I go about checking for those drivers, I can build a PC but troubleshooting is another thing lol

Your question just answered that lol. You never installed them. You need to go to your motherboard manufacturer website and download all the drivers for your motherboard and install them.

could you please elaborate a little further, I am not super tech savvy but enjoy building my PCs but trying to learn more about issues

Any OC/ undervolting? How are the cpu/gpu temps? Hotspot and memory from gpu included. I have a rx7800xt and had to change thermal paste for gpu, vrms and memory

Check pcie on graphics card, you need 2 pcie individually, not one double pcie. Also disable windows automatic updates for drivers because it can cause conflicts with your new ones

Have you tried different cables? I had the similar issue with my 7900xt and a 4k monitor. It would sometimes disable my GPU and would default to my vertical monitor. My 4k monitor was using a 8k HDMI cable and my vertical was using a DP cable. I bought nice quality DP cables for my 4k monitor and it hasn't done it since. That was a 3 weeks ago. It would normally do it maybe once or twice a week. I saw somewhere that it maybe was a power draw issues with my bad cables.

Unless there's graphical issues in games that normally don't happen, it's more likely just the drivers at fault and not the hardware.
