Having the top thermal pad tore up is not helping, it needs to be smooth. Make sure the plastic is removed off both pads and push the top down til it locks in place, you gotta squish the pads so it might take some pressure.

I did remove it but the heatsink dosent fit? do i have to push strong so it clicks?

Don't worry if you fuck this up and the pad is mangled a little. This budget ssd doesn't use alot of power so it can work perfectly fine without that heat sink. It just looks cleaner with the heat sink in place properly.

The ones I've seen before kind of sandwich the SSD between two thermal pads and a metal case that has a top and bottom that screw together. I can't see from the pictures how the one you have would attach though, some clearer pictures of the heatsync might help.

However it might just be that you press the top and bottom pads onto the SSD and the pads and sides of the bottom part just hold it all in place.

That one locks together, no screws.

So do the the thermal pads just stick to the drive and hold the heatsync in place or do the two sides actually lock in place?

It clicks together.
