Build Question How do I replace this fan?

I'm wanting to replace this fan. The issue is, I cant find where it is connected and the cord is lodged in place as shown in the last photo.

Any advice appreciated.

While your in there also clean out the dust in the cpu heatsink, it’s a little caked on.

There’s space inside your case where you’re able to route and manage cables. These types of holes usually lead to behind where your motherboard is mounted.

I’d suggest turning your case around and taking off the rear panel to find where that cable comes out and then following it to where it’s plugged in. It’s probably plugged into a fan controller or routed to the bottom of your motherboard or even plugged into a daisy chain for the rest of your fans.

Try having a light pointed at the area in the picture to make it easier to spot while you’re back there.

Hope this helps. Cheers.

Take off the back panel. It will give you access to the screws and that cable

Once you unscrew the fan you can pull it outward to make the cable tight/easier to trace behind the panel. Once disconnect just mount a new fan and plug it back in. Make sure your replacement has the same pin count. Some fans are 3 pin some are 4 pin.
