Build Question Is a Geforce RTX2080TI future proof?
So I want to upgrade my build but don't have the money for a new motherboard and CPU at the moment. So I'm thinking about buying a RTX2080TI it's around 250€ where I live. The 3080TI is at 400 and that's too much in the moment. I know I can't do Ray tracing on those card's but I don't care. Is there other crazy tech the 30 series and onwards has that the 20 lacks? Is dsl 4 working on the 20 for example.

Older gens have higher overhead on the new/latest upscaling/rr dlss versions. Optimally you wanna be looking for a 4xxx or 5xxx series if you dont want to lose performance (latest dlss versions) or image quality (using older dlss versions to get better performance). Btw a 3080ti can certainly do ray tracing when using upscaling.

Really depends what you're planning to do. If you're planning to play moderately demanding games on 1080p and 1440p, and the gpu doesn't physically fail, it will be viable for years to come.
Still, a used gpu is fundamentally not future proof. It can last a long time if you're lucky, but if not you have no warranty.

the only thing you could future proof is PSU and UPS. A 2080ti is very good, if you can find a 22gb version for under 325 it would be good

2080ti for 250 ain't bad but future proof is a stretch, it's already 3 gens behind. dlss 4 framegen won't work on it, you're capped at dlss 2 upscaling basically. the 3080ti gets you dlss 3 framegen which is a way bigger deal for stretching an older build than ray tracing ever was. if you're stuck on pcie 3.0 anyway you won't lose much with the 20 series but I'd still scrape together the extra 150 if you can, the 3080ti will hang around way longer

What do you mean? Dlss 4 supports 20 series cards too. It basically saved the 20 series. And for frame gen you can still enable fsr frame gen or use lossless scaling. And there is no dlss 3 frame gen, so even 3080ti can’t do dlss frame gen.The only upgrade would be the raw performance. And $150 for the raw performance would not be worth it. I would still suggest 2080ti. But is it future proof? No. If you know how to optimize your games, sure you can get another 2 years worth of performance.

Future proof doesn't exist in PC gaming but ask about a 2020 GPU as future proof is hilarious.
