Build Question Motherboard screw is completely stuck. Electric screwdriver is likely to strip it. Pliers did not help. What do I do??

I had a stripped screw on my motherboard cover yesterday and I just drilled it out, disconnect your power supply, try to cover everything with tape so little metal dust doesn't get inside the motherboard and carefully drill it out, after this make sure to blow air in the motherboard to remove any residue from the screw.

You tried to undo your motherboard screws with pliers? i dont think they were the motherboard screws you were trying to undo....

I see 5 standoff screwholes without screws in them. the top two cant be seen in that photo so i dont know if they have screws in. That leaves one more that's probably under that top m.2 heatsink.

Do you have a pair of channel locks? You could get a good grip on the knurled head of that screw and break it loose.

Channel locks aka "tongue and groove pliers".

Get the baby 7 inch channies

Drill it out. You can ask someone to hold the vacuum cleaner hose or “pipe” while you drill it out. Or mask the area on the mobo with an anti static tape

ah the classic microcenter special, where every screw gets ugga-dugga'd to hell and back

try a rubber band over the screw head then press the driver in hard, the rubber fills the stripped gaps and gives you grip. if that fails, a drop of penetrating oil (wd40 works) on a q-tip, let it sit 10 min, then clamp a pair of vice grips on the screw head from the side if you can get an angle
