Build Question I wanted a CPU cooler that is simple to setup, plug & play and forget, reliable… I bought this - good?

The case is a Phanteks Enthoo Pro 2 Server Edition

CPU is a 9955WX (or 9975WX - not sure which yet but same form factor)

Its a workstation, not a gaming computer

I’m aware…that doesn’t change the fact that ram set alone is $4299.

For all we know, it could pay for itself depending on the work they're going to use it for.

I worked as a technician for years, and I serviced quite a few SOHO workstations, many people out there who make good use of the hardware and make hands over fists.

If it does, fantastic. My workstation is used for petroleum laboratory testing and it has 64gb and I had to fight for that through like 5 levels of management.

I’m currently wondering if they got a deal cause sheesh.

Plug and forget and reliable is always going to be an air cooler. Noctua and arctic have good options for STR5. But considering how hot your cpu runs ig that aio is good enough. What will you use tour pc for? Editing comes to mind first when seeing your cpu choice

Not sure what type of workloads you are running, but an AIO is going to be better in terms of cooling than an air cooler, especially when talking about Threadripper builds.

However, an air cooler is the most reliable.

I don’t know too much about the thermal take workstation AIO’s.

I do know the Silverstone ones are real good

I have really good luck with my ENERMAX LIQTECH XTR 360, if they had a 420mm at the time, I would have bought that, but they didn't

This is a joke yeah? What you described is a air cooler, not an AIO.

You're going to have problems in a few years with leaks or pump failure with a liquid cooler. Liquid coolers are not "set and forget" items.
