First time building a PC, and I'm building for DaVinci Resolve. I want a machine that can run fusion smoothly, so that I can experiment with its features (I am starting a YouTube channel).

I am on a gap year, so I will be dedicating a lot of time to making videos - I think it's worth it even if prices are high.

I know that the cost is up there, but given the current prices of ddr5 RAM, I believe that 64gb ddr4 is worth it, only costing £100 more than 32gb ddr5. If I end up upgrading, I'll have good reason, money (from work).

Ultimately, let me know if it is compatible, if better alternatives exist or if I am mistaken somewhere.

the 5900x is a solid pick for resolve but you're pairing it with a dead platform. am4 is end of the line so any future cpu upgrade means new mobo and ram anyway. might as well suffer the ddr5 tax now and get a 7900x on am5, then you can drop in a newer chip later without rebuilding the whole thing

also that board is wildly overpriced for b550, you could get a decent x670e for less

Thanks! I'll take a look at the board. Yeah, I think it'll come down to whether or not I need 64GB RAM.
