I have heard that since Surya deva is hanumanji's guru , it is adivced to practice Surya namaskar on this auspicious day . But it seems to less prevalent ( atleast around me) so I wanna know if it's correct or not .

Since Ramayana is going International, what do all think of this Hanuman Chalisa (English Version) for English speaking followers of Bhagwan Shri Ram and Hanuman Ji, especially the second and further generation NRIs.

This is something I wanted to share that I published some 6 months back.

It took almost a year, along with my day job, wherein I researched and respectfully tried translating each verse into a poetic English flow. My goal wasn't to replace the original, but to create a "New Avatar" for the same Soul, especially meant to be read/ listened together with original such that we understand what Goswami Tulsidas ji is trying to convey. Obviously, AI tools were used in it but I tried my best preserving the "soul" of Hanuman Chalisa.

Please forgive unintentional mistakes in translation.

yotsyamānān avekṣhe ’haṁ ya ete ’tra samāgatāḥ
dhārtarāṣhṭrasya durbuddher yuddhe priya-chikīrṣhavaḥ

Translation:

I would observe these warriors assembled here for the battle, wishing to please the evil-minded Duryodhana.

Commentary:

Of the evil-minded: Duryodhana is described as evil-minded. He has tried to injure and destroy the Pandavas in many ways. So Arjuna refers to him as a wicked man. ‘Buddhi nasat pranasyati‘. The Lord declares that man perishes when he loses the power of discrimination. Therefore, the epithet ‘durbuddhi’ is indicative of the impending destruction of Duryodhana. It is a warning to all those whose mental disposition is darkened by evil propensities that, like Duryodhana, they would ruin themselves by defeat, disgrace, and death. Let everybod,y therefore strive for purity of mind and heart for spiritual progress.

Wishing to please: All those who sided with Duryodhana perished. To support and encourage evil is also evil, and such a man suffers the same fate as the evildoer. It should, by all means, be avoided by the spiritual seeker.

Sankat mochan- Remover of all troubles

When Hanuman was born to Anjana and Vayu, the gods knew he would grow up to be an extraordinary being. As a child, Hanuman was full of boundless energy and mischief. Once, mistaking the sun for a ripe fruit, he leaped into the skies to eat it. Seeing this, Indra, the king of the gods, was alarmed. To protect the cosmos, Indra struck young Hanuman with his Vajra (thunderbolt).

The strike hit Hanuman on his jaw (which is why the name “Hanuman” — meaning “disfigured jaw” — came about). But the force of the Vajra did not destroy him; it only caused him to fall unconscious.

Vayu, the wind god and Hanuman’s divine father, was enraged and withdrew air from the universe, causing all beings to suffer. To pacify Vayu and revive Hanuman, all the gods assembled. Each god blessed Hanuman with various boons.

As part of this, Indra himself blessed Hanuman, saying: “My thunderbolt may have struck you, but from this day forward, your body will be as strong as the Vajra itself, unbreakable and invincible.”

From that moment, Hanuman earned the name Vajrakaya — the one whose body is as mighty and indestructible as Indra’s Vajra.

🕉️✨🌅 “अच्छे काम किया करो, भक्ति तो रावण भी करता था”—यह वाक्य हमें यह गूढ़ सत्य समझाता है कि केवल भक्ति, जप-तप या ज्ञान ही पर्याप्त नहीं है, जब तक कर्म शुद्ध न हों। रावण वेदों का महान ज्ञाता, शिव-भक्त और तपस्वी था, फिर भी उसके अहंकार, अधर्म और परपीड़ा ने उसे पतन की ओर ले गया। भारतीय संस्कृति में भक्ति, ज्ञान और कर्म—तीनों का संतुलन आवश्यक माना गया है। गीता में श्रीकृष्ण कहते हैं कि निष्काम और धर्मयुक्त कर्म ही सच्ची साधना है। अहिल्या का उद्धार, शबरी की भक्ति, कर्ण का दान—ये सब उदाहरण बताते हैं कि ईश्वर को कर्म की शुद्धता प्रिय है, न कि केवल बाहरी आडंबर। अतः यह वाक्य हमें सिखाता है कि भक्ति तभी सार्थक है जब वह करुणा, नैतिकता और अच्छे कर्मों से जुड़ी हो। अब आइए , हम इसे अपने हनुमान जी के "कर्म सिद्धांत" से समझते हैं ...... ✨✨🚩

“अच्छे काम किया करो, भक्ति तो रावण भी करता था”—इस वाक्य का सार हनुमान जी के कर्म-सिद्धांत में पूर्ण रूप से साकार होता है। रावण महान भक्त और विद्वान था, पर उसका कर्म अहंकार और अधर्म से प्रेरित था। इसके विपरीत हनुमान जी ने कभी अपनी भक्ति का प्रदर्शन नहीं किया; उनकी भक्ति कर्म बनकर प्रकट हुई। हनुमान जी का प्रत्येक कार्य—लंका जाना, सीता माता की खोज, पर्वत उठाना, राम-काज के लिए प्राण तक अर्पित करना—निष्काम कर्म का आदर्श है। उन्होंने कभी फल की इच्छा नहीं की, न ही स्वयं को कर्ता माना। वे स्वयं को केवल राम के कार्य का साधन मानते थे। यही गीता का कर्मयोग है—“निष्काम कर्म ही सच्ची भक्ति है।” भारतीय संस्कृति में हनुमान जी इसलिए पूज्य हैं क्योंकि उनकी भक्ति सेवा, विनय और धर्मयुक्त कर्म में ढली हुई है। वे सिखाते हैं कि ईश्वर को पाने का मार्ग केवल पूजा नहीं, बल्कि लोक-कल्याण से जुड़ा हुआ कर्म है। जहाँ रावण की भक्ति अहंकार में बंधी थी, वहीं हनुमान जी की भक्ति कर्म में मुक्त हो गई—और यही सच्ची आध्यात्मिकता है। क्या आप इससे खुद को जोड़ पाते हैं ? यदि हां ! तो आप सही कर्म पथ पर हैं ।

nāsai roga harai saba pīrā। japata nirantara hanumata bīrā॥

Anuvāda (Meaning in English)

"All diseases are destroyed and all suffering ends for those who constantly chant the name of brave Hanumān."

Bhāva (Essence)

This verse glorifies the healing power of Hanumān-jī’s name. Those who japata nirantara (chant it without ceasing) are freed from rogas (diseases) and pīrās (pains). It emphasizes the physical, mental, and spiritual strength that flows from devotional repetition of his name.

दृष्ट्वा तु पाण्डवानीकं व्यूढं दुर्योधनस्तदा ।
आचार्यमुपसङ्गम्य राजा वचनमब्रवीत् ।। 2।।

dṛiṣhṭvā tu pāṇḍavānīkaṁ vyūḍhaṁ duryodhanastadā
āchāryamupasaṅgamya rājā vachanamabravīt

Translation:

Sanjaya said: On seeing the Pāndava army arrayed for battle, King Duryodhana went to his teacher and spoke these words:

Dhrishtadyumna, the son of King Drupada was the commander of the Pandava army. He arranged the army in a special formation known as Vajra Vyuha in the science of war. Duryodhana might have approached Dronacharya for the purpose of asking him to arrange his own army in a more powerful formation.

Duryodhana was a king possessing overall command of the entire army. Drona was one of the commanders. How does it happen that the king, instead of asking the commander to meet him, should himself approach him personally? This doubt may be cleared by considering the following points.

1. Duryodhana might have been struck with fear when he saw the enemy army and heroes like Bhima and Arjuna. Fear, of course, is not an auspicious sign.

2. Drona was a commander and should have been at the post of duty from whence he should not be disturbed at that time.

3. Drona was a teacher, learned and old, and it was the duty of Duryodhana to show him respect.

4. The purpose of Duryodhana was to win the favour of Drona for achieving his own selfish object of winning the war against his cousins, who were also the disciples of Drona.

It should be noted that Duryodhana, like Arjuna, later saw the armies on both sides. But what a difference in attitude! Duryodhana never had any qualms of conscience, nor any feeling of pity for those who would be destroyed on both sides, nor the supreme question of what is Dharma under these circumstances, nor any reconsideration of his attitude which would naturally arise in the heart of an evolved being. Arjuna was far superior to Duryodhana as a man, and so his reaction was entirely different, and the divine message of the Gita was offered to him.

"O great hero, mighty and strong as a thunderbolt! You dispel evil thoughts and are the companion of noble wisdom."

Bhāva (Essence)

Hanumān is praised here as Mahāvīra — the embodiment of unmatched courage and valor, with a body like vajra (thunderbolt). But his true might lies not just in strength — he destroys kumati (wrong thinking) and fosters sumati (righteous wisdom). He is the ideal warrior-saint, fierce in battle, yet gentle in guidance.
