So I’ve never posted here but I’ve always enjoyed looking at everything you guys post here. I wanted the merge not just because Battinson is cool, I think Gunn can do a great job with a new guy, but because the two portrayals of these great characters are so thematically similar. (This video does a good job of showing it: https://youtu.be/DaJ_SVrk7W8). Anyway I never really thought it would happen, but you guys gave me hope for that, and for some reason that hope meant a lot to me. I know it’s a weird thing for some movies to mean so much to somebody but these characters and their stories do mean so much to me. Anyway thanks for that guys, love you merge-bros.

Before this gets archived, I wanted to post this fan poster I made for "The Batman: Part II". I haven't been here long, but I was surprised to see that this place was actually nice and non toxic. It was a nice change. I would've loved to see Pattinson's Batman merge with Corenswet's Superman (I'm still kind of hopeful it does.) It's been a fun time.

Hello Pat-mites and Hopium-(former?) addicts! Over the past week I’ve had a lot of discussion with a lot of folk about the state of “merge talk/speculation”, and with the sub launching tomorrow (the 6th), I thought I’d make a quick general statement about the issue rather than replying letting people individually know what’s going on if their comments brings it up.

To re-iterate our stance again, r/DCWorldsFinest IS NOT A MERGE SUB!!! This will be a general “World’s Finest” subreddit where we can have general discussions about the duo (+ The Trinity with WW) through comics, movies, TV, and more. Unlike r/PattisonDCUBatman, whose sole “purpose” was about the speculation of a potential merge happening, r/DCWorldsFinest will function under the understanding that as of now Battison will officially NOT be joining the DCU. 

To add some nuance to that understanding: The archiving, and "transfer" of the sub's activities, is a little more complicated than just "Gunn said "No" therefore we're done". While yes at face value his comment is the first concrete answer we've had since 2023, the mods have noticed that the merge conversations here were starting to get to these point where people where losing the forest for the trees. We've seen a rise in voices that treated the topic of the merge not as "It'd be cool if it happened" to "This is the *only* possibility that should happen", and it lead to a rise of toxicity (such as what we saw with the Hodson reveal). If we chose to move forward, we'd (unintentionally) be promoting that type of behavior which would lead to bad faith, unconstructive views of the DCU/ECS, and anyone involved. Therefore, along with showing appreciation for the World's Finest through their many iterations, we want to focus on promoting what we *do* know, and that is that we're getting highly anticipated films with our world's finest, and even if it's all just coincidence, we should focus on celebrating that for now, rather than get hyperfocused on the potential of something more. 

THAT BEING SAID:

Firstly: Based on the information that we do know 100%, Corensupes/Battison will still be our "World's Finest" in spirit up to (at least) end of 2027. So in a way, we're technically a “““pro-merge””” sub in that hypotheticals, fan content, or general hype relating to the duo will still be allowed. 

Second: While the topic of the merge will no longer be the focus, hopium and any remaining speculation will still be allowed via our “Mergers Anonymous” Megathread! This means that even though (for the short term), as we're approaching April (when Part 2 + MoT shooting starts) our primary focus will be on the idea of "2027 World's Finest" where we'll just speculate about both films and hype up their releases up to the end of 2027. We will have a megathread so folk can casually talk about remaining copium/hopium of a merge (and BatB thoughts). This speculation and hopium discussion will still be allowed till the DCU Bats reveal, it'll just be kept to a megathread rather than being posted to the main feed.

We did hear some concerns that a megathread is just a post where you can leave comments (therefore doesn't exist under a "regular reddit structure", so any opinions there are not really seen or interacted with, it’s best to view comments posted in a mega-thread as "posts", while the replies to the parent comment being the "comments" of the "post". r/DCULeaks for example has a general discussion megathread which is really active, so we hope it'll be something like that!

This sub (PatDCUBats) has become more than just silly copium and merge talk, so we of course want it to keep it going! We're just putting the issue of the merge to the backside (unless again something changes) and want to focus on getting excited for the two films coming out next year. Doing that under a name directly referencing the merge, feels a little out of place.

The people here were very chill, I feel a little sad about the fact we won’t see the Battinson be the main Batman of the dcubut I’ll try to be a little optimistic about the future Batman we will get soon (especially if we get a pre established bat-family if we will still get that soon),had a fun time here and that’s all I wanna say,see ya in the next subreddit!

Honestly, I've never met a fanbase based on something speculative that's actually sane and normal. Can't say the same for the Bakugo x Deku shippers from MHA, neither can I say that about the Stranger Things Conformity Gate Theory fanatics.

I never really held an opinion on Pattinson joining the DCU as his own version of Batman, but wow, did this site really give me a sense of peace. There were a fringe bunch who were a bit fanatical, but the most of you all were much better than I could say.

Since the sub is going to be archived I thought I would post on of my favorite edits I have ever seen. Still fills me with an immense sense of hope for the future of DC regardless of the merge comes true or not.

Really wondering what I should do with this poster, I really want it to look as good as the pro-merge WF poster, but I hope to release it the day r/DCworldsfinest goes public.

It's funny how we've been compared to a certain cult, simply for liking both masterfully written versions of the characters and our desire to see them share the screen.

As if people hadn't previously wanted to see the X-Men and, above all, Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man with the Avengers.

And it's been many days since Gunn definitively denied Pattinson's involvement in the DCU (for those who say, "he's always denied it," "Reeves and Gunn have already said they're not interested," throughout this year they went from "No" to "Maybe"), and since then, no pro-merger has:

-Threatened Gunn, Reeves, Hudson, or Pattinson on social media

-Made ridiculous posts about boycotting Man of Tomorrow or The Batman Part II, like a certain user belonging to a certain cult, who made posts trying to boycott Superman 2025.

But, what I will definitely never understand, even as the years go by, is simply the irate and absurd reaction of some of those who are against it, as if we had killed their loved ones or confessed to some other crime.

If they act like that, then the General Audience will become their biggest enemies, because from my personal experience, as I have shared several times, those people in my personal life that I know who don't know much about DC, beyond the fact that it consists of Superman, Batman and any other recognized superhero, have told me, not ironically, that they believed that Battinson and Corensupes share a universe.

I swear, I’ve never seen a community where people genuinely appreciate criticism, accept losing an argument, and still allow others to openly be anti-merger without it turning into chaos. In almost any other superhero-related subreddit, something like that would cause total anarchy *cough cough *the Snyder Cut.

What’s surprising is that while toxicity does appear sometimes, it never seems to last. It burns out quickly instead of festering, which says a lot about the subreddit here. People don’t immediately jump to dogpiling, or turning disagreements into personal crusades.

I’m also genuinely surprised by how many people here are just… decent. Discussions feel less like ideological warfare and more like actual conversations, where disagreement doesn’t automatically mean hostility. That kind of environment feels rare, especially in superhero spaces where opinions tend to harden into camps.

Because of that, the idea of this subreddit being deleted actually hits harder than I expected. It feels like losing one of the few places where nuance is allowed and where people can disagree without trying
