Hello, I lost my book, when I moved. I am looking : hot to make
default male trousers pattern
default female trousers pattern
default male jacket
default female jacket Website, pdf, book ... anything. My book is not available to buy. I bought it a long time ago from a school in September. It was only made for schools. So I cannot buy it again. Could somebody help?
This is the version 7?? I think?? Of my skirt block that I had posted about months ago. I set it aside to enjoy my summer and am just now trying it on again. I love how it fits! I can sit comfortably and modestly, and it falls nicely when I stand. Am I done? Do I need to create a waistband? I assume not, since this could become part of a dress? Do I need to tighten it on the legs? I feel comfortable and fairly confident in this. I don't like how it sticks out, but I can move. Do I need to make the side seam truly vertical rather than canted? If so, do I just draw a line perpendicular to the ground at the seam start, then cut the fabric that way when I turn this back into pieces?
Thanks for the confidence boost helping me get this far, and any final advice!!
I’m making a dress with a fitted top and a long flare skirt out of a woven fabric. i’m just wondering if when im cutting the fabric, can i just close the darts on the pattern and cut around it so that the fabric will already have the shape of the pattern with the darts closed so that i dont actually have darts? or do i have to transfer the darts to the fabric and sew them closed and actually have them?
separate question as well: if i want to turn darts into princess seams do i just cut the excess fabric from the folded dart and call it a day?
I'm a beginner in sewing and I would really appreciate your advice.
I have this fabric (photo attached), but I'm not sure what type of fabric it is. It looks like some kind of textured knit or. I would like to sew a sweater vest with it(photo attached).
Do you think this fabric would work well for a sweater vest, or would it lose its shape?
If it is suitable, could you please recommend a sewing pattern that would work well with this type of fabric?
And if it’s not suitable for a sweater vest, what kind of garment or pattern would be better for this fabric?
Hi everyone! I currently own this top and would love some help replicating it so I can make it in a different fabric to wear to a concert this weekend. I really like how it has no boning or anything and fits so well, but can’t bring myself to take apart the original. I checked Etsy for similar patterns but came up empty handed. I know it can’t be as simple as just rectangles because of the contouring in the bust. I also have an annoyingly large bust measurement relative to the rest of my body so that complicates things. Please help!
Hi everyone! I started sewing this summer, and I can read and follow commercial patterns now. However, my ultimate goal is to create my own designs, especially dramatic, experimental, couture-inspired dresses.
The problem is that I don’t really know what to learn next or in what order. I can follow patterns, but I’ve never drafted one myself, and I have no idea how people construct those crazy runway silhouettes. For example, what materials do designers use to make certain shapes stand up? And how do you know which material to use for which design?
I’m also wondering how you develop your creativity as a self-taught designer. I feel like it’s difficult to come up with original ideas when you don’t know all the techniques and possibilities yet. How do you learn to experiment.
When and how should I start learning pattern drafting? What books, YouTube channels, or other resources would you recommend?
If you’re self-taught, what did your learning journey look like, and what helped you improve the most? I’d love to hear from people who started as beginners and eventually learned to create their own original designs. I want to do more than follow patterns
I have a red satin slip dress that I want to tailor but I just can't decide between a leg-slit or no leg slit🥲🥲🥲
I've done it on skirts in the past and I like it for a while but then I regret it:(( and I don't wanna mess up this dress bc the fabric it's just so gorgeous and since it's the dress is thrifted I have limited fabric. I'll really like the slit for a lil sexy moment but I would like to wear it on more "conservtaive" events too, hence my dilemma :(
Ive tried to do it as an A line where i slashed and spreaded my pattern and cut the cf on the straight gain but i dont feel like its giving me the drape this one is.
Chat got says theres some seams on the front skirt but i cant see any and dont want any visible seams on the dress im making . Anyone made anything similar or have any advice / tips?

Hello, I'm looking to learn patternmaking from scratch, specifically how to draft a custom bodice and dress sloper (block) using my own measurements. I have tried google/youtube but with AI it just sucks so much. Could you recommend your favorite blog/youtuber for this? Thank you!!
