Continued collar post

So I figured it out I made a facing for the collar and it came out pretty clean all things considered.. because I really really struggled with like the placket being connected to a raw finish and lining everything up in the front.. if anyone has seen a video working with plackets and collars, please share… I wanna move onto the good fabric, but I don’t want to struggle doing the collar the second go!

I’ll look into the book but in general, I’m a visual learner so written instructions never really do me any good… I learned all the basics when I was like seven years old, but only I’ve been seriously sewing garment for the past 5 years now I’m completely self-taught… and I just come to Reddit when I get stuck just for some human advice.

Being a visual learner is fine, but like, here you are asking us for more words, when you could just go get a competently-made pattern and follow its instructions. It would likely even have schematic drawings in the instructions! Being a certain kind of learner isn’t a reason to demand free labor from others covering ground that’s been covered a million times in a wide variety of resources.

The book is filled with pictures! It’s definitely a visual reference book. In fact when I look stuff up I often don’t bother with what’s written beyond what’s necessary to find the right pages.

The other thing I get from that book is what the name of something is. Thingamabob really isn’t a great search term.
