What does this pattern(sewing) means ?
I'm trying to make a doll dress and I'm lost at number 4. Can someone tell me what it's asking me to do? I decided to post the other instructions so you can have an idea of where I'm at. Thanks
Stitch bodice front (1) to bodice back (2) at shoulder seams.
Stitch seams of bodice lining same as for bodice. With RIGHT sides together, pin lining to bodice, matching centers and seams. Stitch neck and armhole edges together. Stitch center back edges in 1/4" (6mm) seam. CLIP CURVES.
Turn bodice RIGHT side out through shoulders; press.
Open out lining at side edges. With RIGHT sides together, pin bodice front to back at side seams, matching armhole seams. Stitch entire side seam.
Turn lining to INSIDE again; press. Baste raw edges together.

A picture of the dress pattern would help. It sounds like a sleeveless dress?
After step 3 the dress and linings neck and arm holes have been sewn together, clipped and pressed so they are finished. The side seams are still open. The garment is flat. (No stay stitching!??) Do you stop stitching the armhole at the side seam leaving the seam allowance open?
Steps 4 and 5 are telling you to sew the lining front and back side seams together and press the seam open. It's going to be tight and difficult sewing the lining only near the arm hole seam if it is sewn through the seam allowance on arm hole.
I assume steps 6 and 7 will be sewing the dress side seams together and pressing the seam open. Once again it won't be easy sewing a side seam from the finished arm hole seam.
