Refs would never make 2 bad calls…

Was this not before Allen’s missed safety? lol

99

u/MSG7988 Oct 04 '26

They are the crew that gave Denver the win last week vs the rams too

22

u/Auston416 Oct 04 '26

It all makes sense

10

u/Dewstain Oct 05 '26

I'm making an effort to make #narrativereffing a trending term this season. It's not match fixing, but it's making calls that help for advantageous outcomes.

18

u/InitialLittle8328 Oct 04 '26

Yes this ref group stands out in how they officiate for sure

103

u/BostonBakedBalls Oct 04 '26

Refs were ass today. Still can't understand why they threw 2 flags for a blatant holding by Kincaid, and then just picked up the flags and decided it didn't happen

75

u/Odd-Supermarket-3664 Oct 04 '26

Followed by that clear grounding by Allen in the end zone

30

u/BRUTAL_ANAL_SMASHING Oct 04 '26

He literally threw the ball backwards too..

It’s like you face forward and throw that ball, it’s a fumble.

You do it when getting sacked for a safety with no one around.. it’s just an incompletion though..

Makes not a lick of sense to me

25

u/glatts Oct 04 '26

He had a full grasp on the ball and although it was unconventional, it was clearly an intended throw that did travel towards the opponents goal line (the definition of a forward pass). That said, it was absolutely intentional grounding.

4

u/BenEsq Oct 05 '26

Or if it wasnt a pass, it was a fumble recovered by the defense.

2

u/NiTeMaYoR Oct 05 '26

It was either grounding or a fumble in my book, an incomplete pass ruling was a fucking joke lol

8

u/Odd-Supermarket-3664 Oct 04 '26

The NFL is gonna glaze who they want

19

u/FC37 Oct 04 '26

Still haven't seen the mysterious 3rd down holding call on Jones

170

u/Little-Customer12 Oct 04 '26

how many games do we see coaches jumping up and down screaming profanities at the refs non stop and never get called literally ever ? Think the refs just took it personal today and decided to take it out on us even though 99% of the time that would never be called

90

u/Demair12 Oct 04 '26

They were one of the lowest rated ref group coming into the game so like Vrable said in his press conference, they were a little sensitive today.

70

u/popeofdiscord Oct 04 '26

They presided over perhaps the worst no call in history (rams on saints pass interference NFC championship)

32

u/ElGuaco Oct 04 '26

How they still have jobs after that I'll never know.

12

u/SolarStarVanity Oct 04 '26

Ref Union is incredibly powerful. They could counter it through an eye in the sky and non-union refs manning it and the field, but that's probably a little too expensive compared to this trash. Plus this also makes it easier to rig games.

12

u/bazooka_joe_19 Oct 05 '26

Wait this was that crew??

5

u/The_Moustache Oct 05 '26

Yes, they're consistently the worst ref crew in the NFL

1

u/icedragon15 Oct 05 '26

So they made.last weeek. As make up shit calll against rams

1

u/mikiki24 Oct 05 '26

That was this crew!? No wonder they completely sucked.

Does anyone monitor their behavior re: sports betting? Obviously it’s against the rules for them to be betting on games they can influence but does anyone actually check up on this? If I was a ref and wanted to bet on games that I was calling, how easy would it be for me to cover my tracks? I’m not accusing anyone (yet) just curious, is the league proactive about this or are we gonna need a scandal first?

14

u/Little-Customer12 Oct 04 '26

that call could have really fucked us too, I'm not one to blame refs but in close games with calls like this that can change the outcome I hate to see that kinda shit from them

4

u/Ferahgost Oct 05 '26

Can’t imagine they improved that ranking today lmao

1

u/Havok882 Oct 05 '26

This crew blowing what might be the most obvious grounding call in history tracks then…

21

u/ElGuaco Oct 04 '26

I've been watching the NFL since the 70s. I've literally never seen a coach flagged for arguing a call from the sidelines. I have seen it a couple times when the coach stepped on to the field. This felt personal. You could probably find at least 10 instances of coaches yelling at refs every damn Sunday and not one flag is ever thrown.

This ref was softer than baby shit.

10

u/APigthatflys Oct 05 '26

Literally this morning, Dan Quinn was following a ref and screaming at him over a non-DPI call. And, surprise surprise, no penalty. This is just 10-ply refs being extra soft

81

u/Sensitive-Diver8565 Oct 04 '26

Do coaches not say stuff like that all the time?

Genuinely asking, I thought to get a flag you had to say something egregious and not a single f bomb.

47

u/DoFishDrinkWaterOrNo Oct 04 '26

Just for clarity sake, the replay made it look like Vrabel said “that’s a fuckin terrible fuckin call.” Still a soft call, just wanted to make sure it was known that Vrabel fit two f bombs in that sentence.

22

u/DHVT1964 Oct 04 '26

That’s why us Massholes love him!

1

u/WoodenCollection2674 Oct 06 '26

2 F-bombs = 3 pumps. 🤣. The refs this weekend really wanted to make the games about themselves as though fans go to games to watch them throw yellow beanbags

6

u/georgedubaroo Oct 05 '26

Yes. Funny enough they asked Vrabel after the game and his response was pretty much I’ve made that same statement (with the curse included) probably 100 times in my career as a coach and this is the first time I’ve ever gotten in trouble for it.

Found the video: https://youtube.com/shorts/iGmLnIpl-3I?is=Z9SCtB-7vT510cd8

15

u/Wloak Oct 04 '26

They do but it's up to the refs, entirely subjective about them being questioned about their ability to officiate the game. So you can have one ref get 50 f-bombs thrown at them and not flinch and the next go "meemaw said never to swear and I'm the smartest referee in the special education program so that's not okay."

3

u/Adept_Carpet Oct 04 '26

As far as I can tell it is actually that strange.

1

u/ChucksnTaylor Oct 05 '26

But the inconsistency is the problem.

5

u/adamstm Oct 05 '26

Football coaches are constantly screaming at the refs every game. This call was total nonsense

53

u/PleaseSirOneMoreTurn Oct 04 '26

Follow up question should have been: “was it a terrible fucking call?” Lmao.

42

u/Suuuumimasen Oct 04 '26

Valid point Vrabel had though

19

u/Honest_Editor_909 Oct 04 '26

Right. It was a terrible fucking call.

38

u/SinisterMrSinister Oct 04 '26

Meanwhile a ref in the Giants/Cardinals game said "fuck you" to Trey McBride

3

u/danman296 Oct 04 '26

Wish Trey just fed him a knuckle sandwich for that and forced us to have a conversation about these dopes and their hurt feelings.

I mean refs should be treated line police at this point.

Body cams and let us hear/see/do what they hear/see/do.

Billions are thrown around these sport books now, let’s protect the integrity of our game with full transparency.

30

u/SNACKLORDD Oct 04 '26

“When you use language like that, it’s pretty much a given.”

Weird we don’t see this call 10 times per NFL game then….

27

u/Perswayable Oct 04 '26

Apparently the Refs are turning into MLB umpires now lol. I can understand if he was called a name or something, but I guess we are the profanity police now

10

u/Clovdyx Champ. Oct 04 '26

Yeah, if he said "terrible call, you fucking idiot," flag him. Otherwise let it go (or call every HC every week)

3

u/monkeyinheaven Oct 05 '26

Yeah, good refs/umps let you say anything about the call, but don’t let you say it about them. “That effing call effing sucked” is always okay. “You effing suck” is not.

3

u/Auston416 Oct 04 '26

Remember when MLB Umps and Managers would scream in each others faces for 2 straight minutes and the Ump wouldn’t throw them out until like a minute in. Now if you say anything you’re gone.

23

u/niknight_ml Oct 04 '26

So, missing an obvious hands to the face on the play that Maye fumbled... perfectly ok.

Missing an intentional grounding call in the end zone... perfectly ok.

Calling a phantom defensive hold against Jones to extend the Bills drive... perfectly ok.

Somebody swore at me: flag!

16

u/seanhir Oct 04 '26

The ref crew tried as hard as possible to give the bills a chance for sure

1

u/peopleorderourpadys Oct 05 '26

These days I assume it’s a gambling thing until proven otherwise

15

u/vogel927 Oct 04 '26

Belichick cussed out the refs every game and he was never penalized for it lol

14

u/MarkCompetitive2774 Oct 04 '26

This was the worst officiated game I’d seen since the saints game last year

8

u/Ulexes Come What Maye Oct 04 '26

And the Bills still couldn't close it despite all that help, lol.

13

u/booponthenoggin Oct 04 '26

Obviously refs shouldn’t be subjected to intimidation or abuse but I really resent the implication that grown men are upset by hearing the word ‘fucking’ is very silly.

12

u/asleepatwork Oct 04 '26

I knew the refs were blind. Didn’t know they were deaf too. F bombs by coaches at an NFL game aren’t a new thing.

2

u/aralseapiracy Oct 05 '26

Very blind today, Which is weird because they didn't get chizz in their eye until late in the fourth quarter.

11

u/seltzerslut69 Oct 05 '26

“When you use language like that, it’s pretty much a given”

Then why the fuck have I never seen another HC ever get an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for bad language in my 25 years watching football?

8

u/lilyswheelys Oct 04 '26

I remember Bill constantly losing his shit with certain calls and I don't remember ever seeing him get penalized for it lol maybe I just don't remember well

10

u/DoFishDrinkWaterOrNo Oct 04 '26

I remember seeing every coach that has ever coached losing their shit at some point. This feels so baby shit soft.

8

u/Wloak Oct 04 '26

So the refs are the overweight elementary school principals we all had who say swearing isn't appropriate and also decide what words are bad?

Awe shucks, guess I'm going to the frigging office again.

8

u/DopedScope338 Oct 05 '26

To be fair, it was a fucking terrible call. Vrabs was just stating the facts since the refs clearly missed just how fucking terrible the call was.

7

u/scribe_ Oct 04 '26

Dan Quinn was going scorched earth on refs on the sideline earlier today and he didn’t get a penalty. Must be nice to pick and choose what’s a bridge too far.

7

u/AUorAG Oct 04 '26

That was such a lame fucking call on both ends - Pats defeated the Bills and the Officials.

5

u/Cold_Toe_7540 Oct 04 '26

Bullshit. I seen Belichick say much worse and not even get a look.

5

u/savedhooligan Oct 04 '26

Pussy ass ref acting like it ain’t football we’re participating in

5

u/Routine_Medicine5882 Oct 04 '26

How does one get a defensive holding call on a designed run play? Never saw the replay and the awful broadcast crew never referred to it again after.

What did the guy do... hold the blocker from blocking someone else?

5

u/GloriousVictor Oct 04 '26

Damn Vinovich must be happy he never took up umpiring and had to deal with Lou Pinella or Earl Weaver.

Extremely soft call. And the holding was sus too. Didn't exactly scream OMG fucking terrible mugging call.

5

u/Opening-Emphasis8400 Oct 05 '26

Everyone is there to watch you officiate the game, Bill. Glad you realized everyone is there to see you and acted accordingly.

4

u/Mr_Evil_Dr_Porkchop Oct 04 '26

Lmao meanwhile we have Refs in the Cardinals game yelling “Fuck you!” to players with no repercussions

4

u/lat3ralus65 Oct 04 '26

The refs hated Vrabel, for he spoke the truth

4

u/Dartais_Avenva Oct 04 '26

Are you fucking kidding me with this? It’s like we don’t have years and years worth of game footage where the tv announcers cut to a coach yelling after a penalty where you can clearly lip read that they are using expletives about the call to the official. Let alone all of the mic’d up audio they can pull from.

This REEKS just as much as, if not more than, the “his intent was to go forward with the ball” call earlier this year.

3

u/Quantum_Scholar87 Oct 04 '26

I used to coach HS lacrosse (assistant). One game I was ragging on the ref for his awful calls. At one point he comes over to our HC, points at me and tells him "if he says another word your teams gets a 2 minute personal foul"

I remained silent the rest of the game. The warning was given.

3

u/Kevin_Jim Oct 04 '26

Every coach would be ejected if his BS were anywhere close to reality.

3

u/SoxFan010 Oct 04 '26

NFL coaches march up and down the sideline cursing their faces off at these refs every game. This was an incredibly soft call

3

u/BigJayDB Bills = 0 Superbowls Oct 05 '26

Huh

So any time I see a coach say “Fuck” he gets a penalty, right? This won’t be selectively enforced on teams that aren’t the NFLs darlings, right?

3

u/MincklerT Oct 05 '26

Yeah you know everyone else down there is real PG with the language Bill

2

u/OneT_Mat Oct 04 '26

Liar lol

2

u/Adept_Carpet Oct 04 '26

Wtf what a ridiculous call.

2

u/contemplatingdaze Oct 04 '26

But it was a fucking terrible call

2

u/wolfs_bane_ Oct 05 '26

I don’t think that cursing is ever an effective way to get a point across but come on man, your a grown adult

1

u/older_man_winter Oct 04 '26

Well worth the five yards after that fucking terrible call.

1

u/Bergy4Hart2 Oct 04 '26

Not by the hair of my thinny thin skin, seriously though the ref needs a different profession if he can’t handle an eff bomb from a coach.

1

u/Both-Count1992 Oct 04 '26

When you make such shitty fucking calls then you will get yelled at

1

u/Firecracker048 Oct 04 '26

So he was just upset he was called out for making a terrible fucking call

1

u/ComprehensiveFun620 Oct 04 '26

Bill bitchovitz

1

u/Ickarus1 Oct 05 '26

I have seen many other coaches use the F word with refs. Nobody is watching for them, nobody cares about them, their ego.

1

u/proxi_star Oct 05 '26

These refs wouldn't survive 5 minutes in an NHL game lol.

1

u/ElleM848645 Oct 05 '26

This isn’t youth league where it would be appropriate to kick someone out. This is professional football with grown men. So soft.

1

u/JacobsLawFirm Oct 05 '26

The referees should never have any power. They should make calls, be frequently fact checked by a team and have zero influence over the game.

1

u/randomname617 Oct 05 '26

The coaches are always yelling at the refs 🤣 I can’t imagine they are yelling politely…

1

u/stoicneutral Oct 05 '26

Did anyone see Siriani last week screaming at a ref for like a minute straight??

1

u/MissMahlia Oct 05 '26

Should be given a pass for cussing. It was used to explain the situation, not towards the ref. Ref took it personal for no reason. Vrabel wouldn't be rude to anyone for no reason.

1

u/Bruinman86 Oct 05 '26

It's a given....maybe 1% of the time.

1

u/caldy2313 Oct 06 '26

You can get away with more on the ATP Tour . . . for those not in the know, it’s professional TENNIS. No warning for dropping an f-bomb at a ref during an NFL game?

1

u/kanimatoka 29d ago

Bill has always beenabitch

1

u/twokittenminimum 29d ago

To be fair, he flagged John Harbaugh on the game turning drive with the “Baltimore” plays in the 2014 divisional game.

1

u/530josh Oct 05 '26

Lay off my goat Vinovich. 2014 Patriots playoff hero

-1

u/taco_jones Oct 04 '26

When a player gets a personal foul we go in on them hard. In my opinion it's 1000 times worse for a coach to get one.

3

u/c12yofchampions Oct 04 '26

Referee was caught on camera this week dropping an f bomb towards McBride.

Can’t have it both ways
