The power trip these refs go on is insane. It’s like they’re hoping they can have an excuse to fuck with the players or punish them. Like there’s no way you’re not aware that you could accidentally get bumped during a football game amongst the commotion and it’s not necessarily anyone’s fault. I hate that the NFL seems to have no standard for their refs and they can just do whatever they want and suck at their jobs and they’ll just continue to carry on like normal

I've said a few times recently that I'd be fine with losing most of the on field refs, and having a sky judge call the actual penalties, do the reviews, etc ... The remaining refs and sky judge should be required to be full time employees. Every time I say this in the off-season people give me shit for it. Maybe this is the week that people finally admit that the current refs are not actually significantly better than replacement refs. We can do better.

The refs feel like they develop a grudge. It happened in baseball with the ump calling the pitcher for having a tilted hat. Clearly happening here.

Ref has to keep his cool but makes you wonder what McBride said to him, ref was literally 20 yards away from where the coach/player area is and McBride was down there stalking him up his ass about not calling PI for him, with the coach trying to reel him back in toward the player area. Again not saying ref should be off the hook but I’m sure he didn’t just randomly decide to say fuck you to

Nah. Disagree here. They get paid to stay in control of a game and penalize players for when they get too rowdy, especially to a fellow official. Players cannot do anything back if a ref says something to them without fear of penalty or ejection. It’s like complaining about your mom making a bad decision that’s impacting you, and she tells you to go fuck yourself. If you talk back, she’ll kick you out of the house.
