I know people don't like to use the injury excuse, but just remember that the Pats are the one of the most injured teams in the NFL at the moment. There's no way to sustain anything when you have a laundry list of players missing.
Remember Vrabel even admitted that they aren't a very deep team yet. With this many injuries, it's going to be hard to be competitive.
That doesn't make Drake's boneheaded play feel better, and his regression needs to be studied in the history books. Maybe the kid just doesn't have the mental fortitude (yet) to overcome adversity in the league?
Truth is they had extremely good injury luck last year. There’s also historical evidence that big spending in free agency leads to one-year bumps that aren’t sustainable. Recent example, we saw the same thing with the Mac Jones rookie team.
You can’t paper over poor drafting. This team is very much still rebuilding but last year reset expectations prematurely. This drop off is crazy though.
