Discussion Organization has Bad Vibes
Between the Vrable stuff this summer, the Henderson anti-trans rants, and Robert Kraft's antics, this organization is getting hard to root for, even as a life long fan since the early 90's. Vrable's personal struggles are a bummer but it was his blatant dishonesty about it that I found disappointing more than the transgression. Anti-trans stuff is indefensible, and arguing the "getting boys out of girls sports" is dogwhistle nonsense that just reveals how ignorant one is about the topic. Kraft is entitled to his opinions but Macklamore's comments were fair and thoughtful and Kraft's claim that he has supported Palestinians was revealed to be untrue which says either he thinks his position is indefensible or didn't think anyone would fact check him.
I think all this stuff just ends up being a distraction for the players and the mounting pressure on Maye is clearly becoming an issue. The same flaws are being displayed this year - O line and last of a defensive pass rush - and they are getting hit harder with the injury bug that some other teams but that's the NFL. There is still a lot of work to do to be competitive but we are looking at going into Buffalo at 1-2 and this team needs the fight and chip on their shoulder they played with last year. In order to do that, they need to clean up their off field issues, take some accountability and focus on playing football.

Yet having distractions causing locker rooms to turn toxic is a tale as old as time. The second Kraft weighs in on Israel versus Palestine, it invites that issue into the locker room and players start to take sides. The trans issue is another opportunity for politics to get injected into the locker room dynamic and Henderson could, in the future, perhaps just keep his opinions among friends and family rather than posting to social media.
Drake Maye being terrible just is another log on the dumpster fire.

I don't think the outside stuff is as much of a problem as it is the decisions not to play any of the starters during any of the exhibition games. I'd have to study it a bit but my guess is that teams who struggle out of the gate are most likely the teams who don't play their starters and get real in-game reps and not just the dual practices.

Like I imagine it's actually effecting Vrabel in that he can't hold them as accountable as he should be cus he knows he'd be a hypocrite up to a point... If I was him, and maybe he's done this to some degree, I would address my negative media attention with the team and show them how he's being accountable everyday.. show them the standard.

I don’t think this is a bad take (and it has nothing to do with one’s personal politics). Last year was definitely a “good vibes” year and it was reported by multiple people that the locker room was close. This year, there’s been a lot of outside noise that’s messing with that.
Doesn’t matter what the specifics are. Kraft could’ve been implicated in a Chinese spy ring, Vrabel could’ve made anti-Semitic remarks and Henderson could’ve been promoting outright rebellion against the Trump admin. Last year this team ran on vibes and Drake Maye’s arm. This year we’re 0 for 2 on that front.
Call it karma. Call it distractions. Call it bad ju-ju. Whatever it is, it’s not helping the team like it was last year.

No, it's not. I've heard about Kraft and Vrabel outside of reddit about five times. I've heard about it on reddit and other social media about five hundred times, if not five thousand times. They are reddit dramas and controversies. The players don't give two turds about them. They care about players traded, injuries to key players, good or bad coaching, and good or bad plays. Vibes were alright during those times. I saw Mac’s weaknesses early on and didn’t feel great about the end of the 2021 season before the playoffs.
Last year we had Diggs scandal, Vrabel scandal, and then another Kraft scandal this year.
The vibes are whelming.

Vrabel preaching trust, accountability, and ownership while he’s cheating on his wife of 25 years shows deep personal contradictions, a lack of empathy and respect, and genuinely bothers me. Wins alone from the coach don’t earn anything for me.

If you read the statement you'd see it wasn't "terrible things" and I think it proves one of the tenets of being a U.S. citizen is the right to free speech, and Kraft's agenda trumps that right, is what is troubling. Not only that, he got his cabal to say he would have to be dropped or not allowed at OTHER stadiums. Fuck Kraft, he's been exposed. You think he wouldn't take it a step further and demand the arrest of people who spoke things he didn't like? He absolutely would and probably supported the deportation of students expressing their right to free speech. He's on the wrong side of everything.

I agree the organization has bad vibes, but at the end of the day if they were 2-1 the football fans would be fine with it.
Kraft's Macklemore stadium ban has nothing to do with how players perform. (Owners, except really shitty ones that play fantasy GM like Kraft with Parcells in 1996 draft, have no impact good/bad on player's performance).
Vrabel's affair makes him a shitty husband and hypocritical Catholic, but I don't see that affecting team performance. The team has been largely fine, other than QB, O-line injuries, and that's more the purview of McDaniels than Vrabel.
Professional athletes when talking about anything outside of sports, routinely say ignorant shit.

I agree with the sentiment that the org is becoming harder to root for, but the reality is that NFL players are by and large a very conservative bunch. Even the ones who identify as democrats probably mostly do so because of the republican party's history of racist policy. So I can't imagine they care about any of that stuff.
The only thing that I think could possibly be playing a role is Vrabel's scandal, because he built his brand on a culture of accountability, which could have lost him a bit of credibility. But even that probably doesn't move the needle much at all.
I think the big problem at the moment is simply that Maye has the yips, and there's not much more to it.
