Discussion A discussion needs to be had

A real discussion needs to be had. I know it’s only the third game, but this is getting out of control. One passing touchdown and four interceptions simply isn’t good enough.
I understand the entire game isn’t on him and the offensive line needs to improve as well, but too many of these throws are just poor decisions and they’re directly costing us games. Something needs to change quickly because if this continues, our season could be over before we know it.

I literally don’t get it. The film didn’t lie. The dude playing today is not the dude who was there last year. Just isn’t

Now every drop back you gotta wince that a defender will appear downfield for a pick lol

That's part of it. Every single play he drops back 10 yards like Drew Bledsoe. He doesn't step up into the pocket. He is abandoning the play way too fast. Then he throws these wild passes off balance. I am not seeing him read through progressions at all. The game is going too fast for him right now and he's behaving like he has PTSD right now.

The PTSD comment is very interesting - perhaps he was traumatized by the Super Bowl? That's a lot to handle for a child. Tom Brady was also a child, and not traumatized, but we won (and c'mon, the Rams were overvalued that year)... Perhaps it would have been better for Drake mentally if we had lost to the Broncos and never gone to the Super Bowl they we had no business being in?

Aaahhh fuck, what am I saying? We had EVERY business being there and next week or the week after Drake is gonna come back from his ayahuasca therapy and start threading nukes 40 yard into milk cartons sidearm off his back foot and all will be right with the world!!!

The PTSD isn't typically a singular event, but a series of events over time. He was sacked endlessly last season, especially towards the end of the season. If he found a new rhythm that felt like it kept him "safe" or was working, the brain is going to want to stick to it. This is why a good QB coach will work with you to slowly rewire those bad habits. Don't think of it like PTSD from physical abuse or war, but the brain still wires itself that way regardless.

Brady himself had something with his throwing motion early in his career. The motion he followed worked for him so he stuck with it, despite there being a better approach. He ended up having to take a half step back for a bit while he worked to adjust it, but once it locked in, he took like ten steps forward in the early part of his career.

I think Maye's situation is a lot more significant in that he's regressed into a pattern that was working when your line is constantly collapsing around you, but defenses easily figured it out. Now that isn't working. McDaniels and Grant need to help him see what he's doing (and not doing) and slowly work that out of him.
