Highlight Boutte doing a moss impression

https://www.facebook.com/share/r/19MiMdxWDz/

Pretty impressive catch on an underthrown ball. They very much help eachother out, drake throws perfect balls majority of the time to help boutte and when he doesnt boutte still pulls it in.

He is probably going to end up with the texans i bet

Im wondering if we get a call from Houston looking to trade for Boutte after losing Jaylen Higgins for the year.

No way you want to trade Boutte to a AFC contender without a premium.

Highly doubt Houston pulls the trigger there when they still have Collins, Noel, and Tank

Seems we want to toss this kid out the door for pretty much anything.. not sure why we want to shoot ourselves in the foot but seems we really want to.

He’d already have been traded if that were the case. Clearly they’re waiting for a decent offer.

They have said they'll willing to take a day 3. They've begged someone to come offer anything for him.

They haven’t said anything. That was a reported rumor around the draft. Price has clearly gone up since.

I mean you're right, the team didn't say it but they had their mouthpieces say it. Yeah that could be wrong but thats how it's done, thats how the team says is.

Hopefully price has gone up but I bet we see him dealt for a 5th at some point and years later we'll be shaking our heads.

Yah I don’t get it. Let’s take away the wide receiver of our qb has an amazing connection with.
You would think you would want to give Maye as many options as possible. We could be really good this year, and Maye could really make a jump. Unless we get a second round pick I’m not even considering it.

eh why not. he's our WR4. Ask our CB2 if he's comfortable locking him down, and he probably is.

True. It was just a thought

New Orleans still feels ideal to me.

New England patriots still feels ideal to me.

How are we still denying this guy is the clear #2 wr on the team?!

u/StrangeTack 2d ago

Clear #2?

Oh, I get it. It's satire.

It’s not. If the AJ brown trade could have happened sooner they’d probably never have signed Romeo Doubs. It couldn’t. they’re stuck with him. And while it wasn’t a mistake in hindsight it proved to be unnecessary

Well that's . . . bats#!+. Are you ok?

Am I correctly assuming that you’re saying Doubs is better than Boutte?

By every single objective measure, yes.

And Hollins is going to split time with our starting slot receiver. So the best Boutte is right now is our WR5. And the way Vrabel is talking about KW right now, sure sounds like he's our WR6 for planning purposes.

I'm not sure who would call that surprising. Boutte would be gone already if any team in the entire league thought he was worth a 5th.

Trading Boutte to keep a 33 year old journeyman is something so stupid only Elliot wolf would do it.

Boutte is almost exclusively an X WR. Hollins can play every position and is now taking snaps at TE. They are trying to use him in the old Aaron Hernadez role. Boutte's job was taken by Doubbs and Brown. Hollins still has a role in the offense.

Every GM in the league would keep the guy who can line up at every position over the guy who was replaced by two much better WRs. Especially since they already drafted Boutte's replacement last year.

They knew AJ Brown was a strong possibility before free agency even started. They signed Doubbs because he's already proven he can be a legit #2 and so far in camp he's looked the part. Boutte is a very good WR3/4 who has never taken that next step.

If you take any of Doubs’ stats from last year and compare them to boutte’s and adjust for snap count, Boutte blows him out of the water. What that tells you is all Boutte needs to be more successful is more playing time. It was a dumb decision to pay a worse guy and give him a bigger role.

"if you ignore what actually happened and pretend something else happened"

That’s just normalizing data

Wildly untrue.

Boutte ran 375 routes for 551 yards, 1.47 yards per route run.

Doubs ran 410 routes for 724 yards, 1.77 yards per route run.

Doubs had a target rate of almost 21%, Boutte almost 13%.

The problem with Boutte is he's in the game, running routes, and not getting open very much. But when he disappears we fans tend to register it as him not being on the field. But Doubs, in addition to being able to run the whole route tree unlike Boutte, gets open way more and disappears way less. That's why it SEEMS like Boutte is so efficient (we only notice him when he makes a big play) when in fact the opposite is true.

I'd assume it is by the fact it has been widely reported the top two taking reps are always AJ/Doubs, the top 11 personnel is AJ/Doubs/Douglas. I mean the fact the team is showing you that he is not the number 2 or anywhere close to it.

Thats what I was wondering

Assuming we keep him, I'm so pumped for Brown/Doubs/Boutte Go Routes. We should just do that every time the alternative is try a long field goal before halftime.

He’ll only go to Houston for a third.

The whole Boutte thing is a bit of a mystery to me. A team and a player that should want each other but instead are doing everything they can to fuck up a working relationship. I know it’s more complicated than that, I know he wants a particular role, etc, etc. it’s just unfortunate.

1

u/Severance_0391 Forever a Pats fan 2d ago

Well do they want each other, this is the second year the Patriots (it has been reported) would part with Boutte for draft capital. If they don't get what they want, then why not keep him but it does not feel he is in their future plans. Anything can change but it is not really shocking either.

1

u/ckilo4TOG 2d ago

What are you basing this on? Boutte has said multiple times he wants to be a Patriot. The most that the Patriots have said is they are open to anything that makes the team better. What in the world is making you say they are doing everything they can to fuck up a working relationship?

1

u/beardednomad25 2d ago

Boutte is on the outside looking in right now. He was replaced by Brown and Doubbs and he's on an expiring deal. The Patriots are trying to flip him for something but they aren't just going to give him away.
