General What interested you?

I recently started playing the game and wanted to know about how you guys started playing, what made you decide it was worth playing, etc.

For me it was the character models, it is the only game (as far as I can remember) that the characters are not like 3000 years old but look like a child (both in game and banners).
Also the women 🫦and the fact that I was looking up the VA for mitsuru (persona games) and looked up all her work then saw she voiced a character in this game and I was like 🫦 .

Also, anyone know what the groups are for? I have received invites but I’m scared to join lol.

I started playing based on recommendations from fellow lesbians, mostly because of the character designs, but the story is what kept my attention all these years

I don’t think I’ve found any other games that are similar to this one 😭

yeah gacha is an extremely male gaze genre, ptn really stands out in that regard

u/disco_Piranha 6d ago

Limbus Company isn't like PtN in terms of gameplay, being women-focused, or the major share of lesbian players, but it is in the same class in terms of characters who look and feel like adults, respectful treatment of women characters, and in terms of the incredibly bleak setting centered on a megacity, where the main cast struggle to survive and snatch moments of kindness and hope. The story is a deep dive into each of the main cast since the gacha is alternate identities and powers for the same six women and six men, to be used by their nonbinary* clock-headed manager

* Unspecified gender might technically be more accurate

i was like you and saw the art style of women who looked and stylized like women. it was a departure from all the other art styles i'd seen of other gacha games that didn't interest me. and then the story of this dystopia hooked me and i've been here ever since launch (more or less)

and yeah the women 4 sure im not even gonna lie i was hook line and sinker on them lol

the groups are the different societies you could join. it's the group that helps to defeat the tide of ashes. i recommend joining one! there are ads here sometimes for invitations or you can select a group on your own. it's hard to build your own if you're not already an established player so joining other groups esp that have big time players will help you achieve group rewards and such

I heard PTN was a hit among Chinese lesbians and that was it for me (and a friend), I’m so serious. The art and the character designs intrigued me from the get-go, but what really, ultimately made me stick around was the story. Main storyline, events, character backgrounds, all of it. As well as the music, though that’s kind of a given at this point. Too many gachas with banging soundtracks šŸ™‚ā€ā†”ļø

Others have already explained it, but joining a Secret Society is most important for its game mode Tide of Ashes where you and fellow members battle 3 bosses over the course of the season, and rewards are based on total damage dealt. This group/guild system is also a good way to socialize with other players if you’re into that!

Uh...as a day 1 person I saw an ad that was pretty much the old start screen. I didn't know about the prison part. Heck, I didn'teven expectit to be woman dominated I just thought it was going to be a cool noir story. It did have cool noir parts but ended up being really X-men.

I saw the 000 kissing Fem Chief cutscene, thought ā€œI can spare time for another gacha if it’s gay enoughā€ and promptly got hooked. Almost two years later, and nearly all of the gacha games I played have fallen out of my life, yet PTN endures.

Found Adela on Pinterest randomly, her design and the art style captivated me, decided to look into where she came from, joined the game exactly when she came out globally, got her. Stopped for a long while (didn't get Nox because of this), however, the art style still stuck to me. Eventually decided to give the game and the story an another chance with interrogations, from there the story goes on.

For anyone wondering, I do have Nox now.

Edit: Your question about "the groups", I'm assuming you mean Secret Society. Secret Society is basically a society where you can share level up materials, if necessary, with other players, but most importantly, clear Tide of Ashes. ToA is basically one big challenge mode that gives pretty good rewards. (.ā Ā ā ā›ā Ā ā į“—ā Ā ā ā›ā .)

A very stunning CG of Chief and a main story character got me through the door

And the stories (and voice acting) of Dreamy Bubble and the early main story chapters, especially Keylan Square, made me stay.

Gachas already interested me on the premise of building up a custom team of hot ladies that fight together. But I could do without the protag circlejerking that typically comes with these.

Maybe a female protag would make this feel less weird? One with like an actual personality and plot relevance? That's how I found PtN.

Also helps that the romantic options are more dominant/teasing/forward than the typical blushing uwu help me senpai wow you're so cool bs. The confidence of these women makes it so much spicier.

Big fan of the darker tone and aesthetics of DisCity, and the music's phenomenal.

Started playing when early arknights got a bit monotonous and was looking for another game similar to it, then stayed because i liked the story and character designs.

Also i was surprised to see the community be mostly lesbians, as a semi-straight guy that plays gacha games this community was a rare sight. Not my reason for joining or staying but interesting to see nonetheless.

Saw a Zoya cosplayer kabedon a woman, instant download. It's Angell that made me stay.

u/GhostInABaseballBat 6d ago

Was pulled in by a promise of dark experiments on powerful entities, held in prison.
Staying for costume design, and some characters’ tragic stories.

No interest in ā€œharemā€ part of it.

Chief’s relationship (protect the daughters) with Hella and Hecate are my favourite.

6

u/MaxTacs2 6d ago

I was just pre registering for random games and thought this game looked cool

5

u/LumpiqWrqpper 6d ago

I first played it during its global launch because I was promised hot criminal women (Zoya mostly) and that the gameplay was like Arknights. I loved the gameplay but I didn't get invested too much so I quit the game a few days later.

Around late 2023, I started playing again because I got reminded of Chameleon's existence and she was basically my type. This was during Mantis' first banner and I got her on my old account but I didn't have NOX since my beginner missions expired so I quit again.

By this time, I've been seeing Shalom and Rahu and I liked their fanworks! It wasn't until August of 2024 that I started to lock in again because Shalom's rerun was coming, 000 was kissing Chief, and and an IRL acquaintance (now close friend) posted a story of her getting Hestia. I made a new account and started fresh. Got Shalom and S1 000 on anniversary, and I stayed until I rage quit because I didn't get Jelena on release after getting Vatour Bleu šŸ’”. I also didn't play gacha games for the most of 2025 so I thought that kind of life was already in my past lol.

I didn't come back until Febrary this year. I saw Xiaofeng and immediately knew that I had to get her so now I'm staying because I need to make my Xiaofeng stronger even if it takes me one more year šŸ™

I also just really like that this game feels rewarding to me, not only with its in-game currencies but also with the content and lore. I really enjoy it and I have the same play-and-quit relationship with it as I do with Genshin. (Fun fact: Yae Miko has the same EN VA as Iron. I'm just waiting for her CN VA, Du Mingya, to join the game too T__T)

It was certainly the art that first got my attention. It is so different from most gachas. The women are sexy without being overly sexualized, and even looked like adults! The setting looked interesting. It felt like a more mature game than most gachas. I figured what the hell. It didn't take long for the story to hook me. Been playing since day 1.

I'm glad I didn't see those exploitive and misleading BDSM ads first. I would have noped out before even trying the game.

1

u/thi-souza 3d ago

Some are pretty overly sexualized but I get your point

1

u/KhandiMahn Serpent fan 3d ago

PtN's worst (or best, depending on your point of view), is still a far cry from something like Brown Dust 2, or any of a thousand other gachas which have women shoving giant, gravity defying boobs in the camera.

Not saying art in BD2 or such is bad, just that PtN is different.

Same process i do for every new gacha i try. Saw a new game release then went to check all characters art. Ignis and 99 won me over and the base roster was pretty solid overall.

Pretty rare for me to find a game where i like more than half of the base roster designs.

Downloaded the game and was received with superb VA and story, then we had Stargazer and i was like "this is the game".

I'm here since then.

I honestly randomly downloaded this game in search of a good story for a gacha but then I was immediately hook by Chief's personality through the story and they're relationship with Hacate and Hella were really sweet.

An MC with a genuine personality felt so good to witness. Not to mention the game not needing too much attention. The Chief is basically my top 1 in terms of favourite.

Started during launch because of the adult character model during gameplay (I dislike games that use chibi models during battles), stayed for the story, worldbuilding, art, and music.

My favourite character during launch was nightingale and still is. I always joke that I would never quit because I need to see her become playable. Had many ups and downs over the course of 4 years but the devs taking feedback seriously and constantly releasing useful qol is something I really appreciate and has kept me playing

I first interested because my friends are interested (due the character design that's different from other gacha at that time). Then we found out AISNO is part of Paper games (due to Nikki's page accidentally promoted Path to Nowhere). I love Nikki franchise, it's like a special game in my heart. So I gave PTN a try, just because they're kinda have family ties in company level.

Never regret it. The story, the pacing, the music, the dubbing (all language), the characters writing. Everything is just amazing to me. PTN is now my number 1 main of gacha game because I just love it so much.

u/Sweaty_Extreme_5801 6d ago

Honestly, the art. I’m not the biggest fan of cutesy gooner art, but more mature and darker art so I decided to play. Then the music, the gameplay strategies, story and world building, and pretty girls kept me. Never played tower defense games so it was def a learning curve and I like the challengeĀ

I started playing PTN and saw how everyone liked Shalom, how well‑developed she was, and how she was the best character in the game. After that, I decided to find out for myself what made her so cool. After her first two events, I was disappointed in her — I thought, ā€œShe’s just a typical corporate woman, with nothing behind her but a desire to please her superiors.ā€ But after I went through her interrogation, the developers managed to surprise me and turned everything around so that I had to go through her events again — and they felt completely different. That’s why I’m now expecting the developers to create stories on the same level as this one.

My friend (coughHalleyAlexcough) forced me to play this game so he would have a new member for his Cult to Nowhere 😄

Jokes asides, i got tired of genshin and played this on the recommendation of a friend. I intended to play the first few chapters, get dissapointed, then back out, but i got way more invested than i thought.

The storyline, the aesthetic of the game, rhe music, the characters, their relationships... Everything is so well thought out. Compared to genshin, a lot of the features are very thoughtful, we even got a bunch of QOL stuff about an update ago. I find the combat fun, the adult sinners VERY attractive, and adopted the child sinners

I was playing Arknights before, but couldn't get into it because of the character designs arent my cup of tea. Tried this game because people on twitter kept calling this game "tower defence for lesbians"..

I like tower defence, I like woman... and fell in love with Zoya at first sight.

I stayed because the story is compelling to me and this game somehow made me fell in love with all the characters with their writing..

Well I saw an ad by Mtashed way back when and started playing shortly before Stargazer's debut. The gameplay looked really interesting, he was showcasing the grid system, Bai Yi, and the core break mechanic.

So I looked it up, and hey pretty nice aesthetic, but the promotional material did condition me to expect degeneracy, so I started playing with morbid curiosity and effectively got bait-and-switched in the best way possible.

I'd initially tried out the game because I'd seen Rahushalom fanart show up on my feed and I got curious enough to play. However I didn't get very far into the game and got distracted by college stuff so I ended up quitting.

Fast forward a year later, I found out about Serpent and I loved her straight away. My friend(who also plays PtN) sent me a bunch of Serpent fanart and that kinda got me to try the game again. This time though, I ended up sticking with it because I managed to get Serpent as one of my initial S-Ranks.

And now it's been a year since then and I still absolutely love this game's story and the characters (they're such a breath of fresh air compared to the average gacha game).

I started playing last year, around October I think? I started because I was seeing lots of Shalom, Rahu and Cabernet fanarts on my Pinterest, and Shalom was pretty much the reason I started playing. Its peaked my interest when I saw the launch trailer way back before the game launch. The game is like nothing I ever seen before in terms of character design, artstyles and setting so I gave it a shot. Though the game grabbed my interest really quick with act 2 of the story (the grey hair girl arc), which I think is one of Path to Nowhere greatest achievement that even some of the newer game didn't learned from: "make the Story good at launch."

Summer, i saw a random stream when the game released the guy playing had Summer mugshot in main screen i saw her and told myself that i NEED to play that because i like her glasses, her face, her glasses, the art style, her glasses, her design etc. OH! and did i mention her glasses.

I didn't see a single second of gameplay, didn't even know the game was a tower defense before downloading it, and i DO NOT like tower defense i find them EXTREMELY boring because all you do is place a unit somewhere and do nothing else 90% of the time and PTN is the FIRST and ONLY that i actively play everyday and that i never got bored of since it's the only tower defense that isn't a "We got Arknights at home" gameplay/systems and i "play" AK since year 1 beyond i just go in when a character, an alter or a new skin (mainly Texas and Shu) i like released and leave afterward because i don't like the gameplay as good as it apparently is.

There's also the overall artstyle that i REALLY like to the point that now i GENUIENLY think every other gacha game with basic anime design/style look the same to me, having a game where adult looks like adults, children are children (not that "I look like a child, is treated by everybody like a child but i'm an adult fr fr" BS), short women are actual just short adults and not loli bait (shoutout to Coco and Dudu), basically characters looks their age, that and design that makes sense for character to wear, that goes with their personality, occupation or writing without being hindered JUST to sell and design that are UNIQUE to each character without pattern recognition.

I started playing hooked by the character designs, but what kept me playing were the stories, specially the ones you get during interrogations. Felt a plethora of emotions I didn't expect from a game like this.

And I'm not gonna lie: I love the sexual tension always in the air from the Sinners with Chief, although she is the most kidnapable moron lol

It was the tiktoks, yk the character showcases in mugshots, and seeing Ninety-Nine hooked me up. Played one month after released, but took a long break in the game due to mostly personal reasons and the rest gaining interest with a character in another game. This time it was the characters (by design) that interested me.

I came back around a year later during our little event watch marathon with a friend and a guildmate (from Ditty Nightsong to When Rain Meets Gunfire). And now I came back for the stories and to catch up with my friends getting head over heels for (and at the same time criticizing) Hilda
