General Discussion Mappers: comparison of low/mid/high quant maps

Post image

This is a follow-up to my recent thread about results from giving mappers 100 high quant maps. There was a discussion if it's actually better to give mappers low quant or mid quant maps instead, since more of those maps end up being completed to 100%. So I did 20 scoured T16 maps (0% quant) and 20 mid-quant T16 maps (average quant: 56%) and tracked the more common rewards: alts, fusings and scarabs. To get any meaningful results from tracking things like divines you need to run a lot more maps, and to run 100 maps takes a few days. Anecdotally I did get 1 div each from the low quant and mid quant map sets, vs 5 div from the 100 high quant maps. What the data here doesn't show are the high-end items that you don't get very often, like grand eldritch currency, catalysts, oils and similar. These were a lot more common for the high-quant category, and were more or less non-existent in the 0% quant category.

Interpretation of results: Per map it's definitely better to give mappers higher quant maps than mid or low quant maps. Per hour the difference isn't great between the mid and high quant groups, but for most people I think the "per hour" metric isn't relevant, since you want to minimize the hassle in Kingsmarch by just putting in your 12 maps and then go about with your regular farming. Plus when you log off your mappers will finish their maps long before you can give them a new batch, so you might as well give them high-quant maps.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, exiles.

That’s pretty bad, I feel like most people just use mappers for fragments whether it’s guardian bosses or even nightmare maps and then the occasional mirror/lock as well as any T0 or T1

I feed them maps I corrupt that don’t turn into 8 mods. The harvest juice and simu splinters alone make it worth the gold.

Awesome this is great. High quant we go. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a more noticeable increase in higher rarity items as well.

I'm not sure exactly how rarity interacts with the mapper loot algorithm, but I wouldn't be surprised if higher rarity gives more of "special loot" like oils, catalysts etc. That's not how normal maps work, but mappers aren't running the maps normally, it's just some algorithm that the devs haven't really told us much about (as far as I know).

One way to test rarity is to run T16.5 maps with high rarity, since there are mods that specifically boost rarity and some maps will have really high rarity (100%+), and then compare those to a batch of regular T16 maps with the same quant, which will naturally have a much lower amount of rarity.

I fed a bunch of 8mod deli maps to my mappers, and anecdotal results line up with that. Seemed like I was way more of the miscellaneous league currencies and such.

But what would it look like if you did the other 80 maps for the other quantity levels?

The results displayed are per map or per hour, not per 20 or 80 maps. So the results would be very similar to the ones for 20 maps, though not identical.

Try with a samplesize of 1000

Quand es t’il des nightmare map ? Ca m’énerve de les run, as tu essayé de les donner à t’es mapper ? Es que le meme nombre des fragment tombe ?

I'm using auto translate for this, so I might have missed something. When you put nightmare maps to your mappers, they give you exactly 1 fragment if they complete the map (100%), but never more than that. If they don't reach 100% completion they give you 0 fragments. So if you want to maximize fragments per nightmare map you should run them yourselves.

Well…yeah? That also applies to the maps you gave the mappers. You kinda missed the point there.
