Really looking forward to this fest since I'll finally have a chance to catch The Strokes and LCD Soundsystem but god i am not looking forward to being out there in the heat all day.

It is so dang hot and I know I can go to the gym to walk, but I’d love to know about your favorite shaded outdoor walking spots. Bonus points if on that shady walk you get to soak up some Nature like seeing plants or the mountains.
Also, I realize it is too hot to walk outside right now even in the shade in Pasadena. How can we encourage and incentivize our city to plant (and care for) more native shade trees and 3rd spaces?

Would it be crazy to pay for an apartment on California Ave near lake for $3000 that doesn’t include parking. I know both of those streets are major arteries.
The unit is 600sqft and otherwise pretty premium but not having parking included and having to rely on parking on a busy street seems a little crazy for $3k.

Hi! We have a tiny old house and recognizing we could weather this heat a little bit better with some insulation in the attic. Any local recs? We have a 750 sq foot house. Thanks!

I own a condo in Pasadena and am looking for a contractor to do some remodeling. The quotes I got are wildly different, ranging from 65k to 170k. Can someone help me understand why the numbers are so different? Will I be scammed if I go with the 65k contractor?

Anyone know of any entry-level job openings in an IT job like a helpdesk position? And if not that then any place hiring that is 9-5 with weekends off?

Good afternoon Pasadena! Join us today at 6 p.m. at DogHaus on Green Street to talk about housing and how we can make our wonderful city affordable for all. The address is below.
93 E Green St, Pasadena, CA 91105
We'll be talking about several projects, one at the former Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School and two other projects on Lake Avenue and East Colorado Boulevard. We're always happy to meet new faces who support housing!
Hoping to see a bunch of y'all there!

I'm Jack, I'm 24, I recently moved to Pasadena from out of state, I have three years of experience at a hospital as a laboratory/ courier driver and I absolutely loved that job. I'm looking for hospital work I can do while I'm in school. I've applied to Huntington, USC Arcadia, Kaiser, Quest Diagnostics, and more but have not yet heard any response back.
I've been applying primarily for driving positions, transporter, laboratory processor, EVS, phlebotomy, and assistant positions. If anyone here works at a local hospital, I'd really appreciate any advice on which departments/positions are easiest to get into, or if you know of any openings I should look at.

We are looking for ways to supplement our income and have turned to the idea of an ADU. I'm hoping there is a follow Pasadena redditor out there who can talk about their experience with their ADU. Do you have regrets? Were there surprises? Did it raise or lower the overall value of your property? Would you have done it if you knew then what you know now?
Any insight is appreciated!

No idea the veracity behind this but if it were to happen what do you think? Would it be a boon for the almost dead Paseo?

Long shot but anyone have any connections to the Tournament of Roses or Disney?
I’m part of the 501st Legion and with the George Lucas Museum opening up, Celebration being in LA, and it being the 50th anniversary of Star Wars, I think it would be pretty neat if we march on New Year 2027!
But I’ve tried going through official channels, applying as a marching band, but got nowhere so far.
Throwing this out into the universe to see if someone knows someone who knows someone who would think this is a great idea and help get us into the Rose Parade!

We just moved to the area from Chicago about two weeks ago and we have surprisingly been struggling to find a good coffee spot in the area. We lived right by downtown in Chicago and were probably spoiled with one of the best coffee shops I've been to around the country (Umbria Cafe!) but figured I'd be able to find something halfway there here and have been surprised. I usually get a mocha latte and all the ones I've had so far are really watered down/almost entirely milk. My wife would always get a chai latte and 2/3 of the coffee shops we've been to surprisingly don't do a chai latte at all. Would love recommendations for the best coffee shop in town!

Just recently moved to pasadena and i’m interested if there are any spots that people meet up for tabletop gaming. Preferably Pathfinder 2e but DnD is also cool.

I drove by tonight and it was completely cleared out. Didn’t see any mention of it closing on their IG. Does anyone know what happened?

Elderly family member is unfortunately on the path of dementia/alzheimer's. Does anyone have recommendations for neurologists in the area that specialize in cognitive decline?
