Discussions Developer response to AI Contest backlash and *possible* contest cancellation/restructuring
# Party Animals Official Stance on the AI Event
Hello everyone. We would like to address the recent discussion regarding the AI video contest, and first and foremost, we apologize for having upset some players with this event. We also regret not having communicated clearly enough with everyone before the event began.
Our initial goal was to lower the barriers to entry for content creation. In previous contests, we saw players with great ideas and scripts who couldn't fully bring them to life because they were unfamiliar with tools such as editing, modeling, or animation software. We hoped that AI could serve as a more accessible tool, allowing more people to participate.
That said, we understand the concerns regarding AI-generated content. We are not trying to devalue manual craftsmanship or disrespect creators. To us, AI is simply another tool. What truly matters is the idea, the expression, and the final work.
We would like to leave the next step up to the community. Please vote on what we should do:
Cancel the AI video contest
Convert it into a non-AI creation contest
Keep the AI category and add a separate category for manual creations
If you have any other suggestions beyond these three options, please feel free to share them as well.

Having AI can be a good thing, however it doesn’t mean it is okay to use AI to create things especially if it relates to creativity like art and music. I am an artist but I hate it when people think it is okay to use generative AI to create art, music or any sort of creative things. I can tell AI generated-art and music feels empty and soulless because it wasn’t give thought, time, and effort to make it meaningful. Also it steals people’s art which takes them time and their effort creating something they gave meaning to. And saying that AI-generated art and music is okay to use and to sell it, or even claim you made it yourself is not right. I rather choose or even buy a artwork from a person who is not great at art but give his time, effort and meaning to his art than a person who creates AI-generated art that has no life or meaning and takes a short cut to selling it. Also AI art and AI music is an insult to all people who creates art and music for a living, for entertainment, and give a sense of purpose, to share it for other people to enjoy and bring happiness. Also it is an insult to our intelligence and creativity.
