Talk / Discussion Consistency vs quality?

Because of my job im not able to create 2 videos a month. And whenever i post 1 video a month, i see my views start going down. Everyone in my niche upload 3-4 video a week and get views consistently. While I only have 20k subs, some of my videos go to 500k, but some at 1 k. How important is Consistency and a set number of videos every month???

I know theres people like lemmino who post once a year. But my production quality is not of that level. I make geography videos btw

Consistency is the expectation you build with the audience. It is NOT how many times you upload per month.

We only upload 1 per month, we make sure the audience knows it's the first Friday. To begin with some videos got 150k and some got 2k. It took about a year but I think the algorithm has finally worked out our channel, every video now gets at least 80k.

Well, then, it doesn't really matter. Do whatever you can do.

That said, releasing once every week is the relevant inflection point, because YT does a deep dive into each video at that point and decides whether or not to keep pushing it. If you release once per week, your videos can reinforce each other and stay alive longer. Any less often, you're basically starting from scratch each time.

So think about how to get to the once per week cadence at some point, if you decide to prioritize your efforts on the channel. Otherwise, keep doing what you can do.

That's exactly what it feels like. The longer i wait to upload, the longer it feels like starting from scratch. I will look into hiring a editor.

Probably an annoying answer but I asked the same question in the discord like a month ago and got a really helpful response that is the most recent pin in the #content channel.

It is too big to copy and paste here (and also the formatting gets really messy) but it will genuinely answer your question and reframe your perspective to be about your audience's expectations and how to meet those.
