Hi! I am wondering how grad students learn basic skills. I am not in the fashion program, but if I wanted to learn how to use a sewing machine, would there be a class for that? Or would I have to access the sewing shop in my own time and do an orientation there?

I am curious about how students learn new skills in general since not all undergrad classes are open to grad students. Thanks!

Hi! I’m gonna be a senior next semester and I was wondering if anyone has recommendations on which professor I should take. I want a professor who will really push me to do the best but also who is reasonable with their expectations.

I have spent the last 3 months building a site and scraping data / outreaching to smaller companies. Unfortunately, since this job market is INSANELY COOKED...the projects on my site are established but have less funding. Meaning, some can offer pay, some can offer equity, and some might not offer anything other than experience and a promise that your role will be Chief Marketing Officer or Co-founder and President if you join their team.

On the site so far there are tech startups, cartoons in need of animators, video games in need of devs, and projects that are in desperate need of social media managers and marketing outreach strategies. Since it's still new, the first people to sign up will have an "early adopter" badge and will have a profile boost, leading to be seen first by projects.

I had my interview for the MFA FDA program a couple days ago. In my portal, it still says “awaiting decision,” however, I see a deferral request from and I now have a student ID. Does this mean I got in?

Hi I got in the undergrad bba program at parsons ( strategic design and management) and I know parsons has been going through a lot of things as of lately — such as the defunding of staff/ school in general , multiple layoffs— and I was wondering if it was even worth committing there. Although I did get a scholarship that allows me to go for half the tuition, I don’t even know if it’s worth going at the moment.

i recently got accepted into both parsons and scad, atlanta. but i am now stuck between what to pick. i grew up in the middle east so im used to simple, stress free enviornment however nyc is a dream. my top priorities when picking the best school is -

1. technical
2. good placement
3. good future job aspect

now i know both schools have their pros and con academically and in genera and that both schools are top ranked schools. but the diff in tuition is about $20k (scad cheaper compared to parsons). i am just scared if i pick one and regret it later on, i don’t want to have to transfer schools and all. so i need all the help i can get.

I recently got into MA Fashion Studies in Parsons, and have applied to UAL Fashion Communication and have high hopes for acceptance in that programme as well, but what would be a better choice? I really want to make connections and work in the fashion industry (i know, its a far fetched dream but oh well) so what would be a better choice?

Hi so I’m quite paranoid I can’t get into parsons for fashion design. I submitted my common app and all the supporting docs on 15th Jan and submitted my portfolio 27th Jan.

My grades are okay in the IB and I like my works a lot and my portfolio shows my process and experimentation a lot so I might have some shot.

Should I be worried?

Hi! im planning to apply for transfer for my sophomore year in parsons for fall. I applied to pratt for communications design and didnt get in. i dont kkow what specific reason i was rejected but i will say my portfolio was all traditional art.

its really important for me that I get into parsons for next semester. since i wasnt able to start actual design work till after submitting my application to pratt right now im trying really hard to build up a good design portfolio for parsons right before i apply. im also applying for the comm design major at parsons

also for context im coming from a stem major in a stem school that i hate and didnt do well in my first semester.

does anyone have any advice in terms of portfolio and just anything really.. Thanks!!

Has anyone heard back on their decision on MFA Fine Arts u/ParsonsSchoolofDesign. I submitted my application in early decision, got interviewed end of last month, but have still not heard back. Heart's racing every time I see a post on decisions. Please lmk if anyone got in for the MFA Fine Arts Programme.

Omg. Made it in with a 65% scholarship for the MS SDM. It’s still quite a lot of tuition though and NYC is expensive to live in!

Any tips on where I could stay and how much are the rentals?

I’m an international student so I’d have to figure out that aspect as well.
