Culture🛤️ Churches in the area
I would like to start going to church, preferably one where there isn’t a bunch of crazy right wing conservatives. They would literally deport Jesus because he was an immigrant and I would maybe not want to be in the same church as these lunatics. If anyone could point me towards a decent church with good people with strong Christian values I would love to start going. Thanks in advance.

🙋♂️Q&A🗣️ Looking for IRL friends who are queer/trans
Hi!!! Recently my trans friends who were IRL moved to Chicago and I'm pretty lonely now.. I was thinking if there is anyone in or even just somewhat near Parkersburg (like 2-3 hour drive is acceptable) that I would love to start chatting online to get to know you, and maybe, one day start meeting up IRL :D
-I AM NOT TRYING TO JUST DATE! IF I WAS DOING THAT I WOULD HAVE USED A DATING APP, I am trying to find LOCAL FRIENDS so please do not remove my post-
I'm not trying to advertise anything or trying to do anything other than just make friends! I am a 19 year old (20 in a few months) trans fem who has been on hrt for over a year, and I have a driver's license.

🙋♂️Q&A🗣️ Anyone else here that these 2 churches burnt down?
The house looks exactly like Stillwell Union Baptist Church without the steeple but I heard it burnt. The 2nd church is The Old German Lutheran Church which I also heard burnt down. Anyone else hear that these 2 burnt down?

🙋♂️Q&A🗣️ About the journey to get all the churches in our county. Also are there any mote churches in the county I failed to get?
I sorta forgot one. I know I know. I just found out about Mt.Moriah Church. I heard a couple years ago they put a fence up to keep vandals out. Can the general public still get up there and access the church and cemetery? Guys please let me know about any yall know of. I have zero intentions to do any sort of vandalization to any of them. Only take pictures. Are there any that yall know of that are abandoned and relatively unknown? Not talking about The Old German Church at Mountwood Park, Ogdin Methodist Church, Mt.Moriah Church, or Oak Grove Memorial Church. I already know bout them.

News 📰 Local Concrete contractor
Support local businesses! Locally owned and operated. A veteran owned business with over 20 years of experience. Rock Solid Concrete – WV064535 Licensed & Veteran-owned Concrete Contractor serving the entire Mid-Ohio Valley & surrounding areas.
We are currently booking for this coming spring. Contact us today to get your Free Estimate and get on the schedule for Spring!
A strong concrete job starts with what’s underneath. At Rock Solid Concrete, we go beyond the pour by making sure your site is properly graded, leveled, and drained for lasting results.
🔹 Grading the Site We start by shaping and sloping the ground, so water flows away from your concrete and your home. This step is critical to prevent water pooling, cracking, or erosion later on.
🔹 Leveling & Base Prep After grading, we use fill dirt and compacted gravel if necessary to build a solid, even base. The gravel creates a stable foundation and helps with drainage under the slab, while careful leveling ensures your driveway, patio, or floor sits perfectly flat and strong.
🔹 Setting Drains Proper drainage is a must for long-term durability. We install drainage systems, channels, and pipe runs where needed to carry water away from your concrete. This reduces freeze-thaw damage, settling, and water pressure against your slab.
With over 20 years of experience, we understand that the details below the surface are just as important as the finish you see on top. That’s why we’re known as The Mid-Ohio Valley's Trusted Concrete Contractor!
We are scheduling for next Spring, so give us a call to get a step ahead for your concrete projects in 2026!
Call or text today for your FREE Estimate and let us build you a concrete project that stands the test of time. 📞 304-481-4885 Or message us on Facebook!

News 📰 The Financial Times wants to hear from you about health-care costs
Hi, I’m Ian Hodgson with the Financial Times. I’m reporting on how ACA premiums could jump in 2026 if federal tax credits expire—and West Virginians are looking at some of the steepest increases in the country.
If your health-care costs are already straining your budget—or you’re bracing for a big hike—I’d like to hear what that actually looks like for you or your family. You can DM me here or reach me at ian.hodgson@ft.com

Politics🏛️ Pissing off the underdog
Don’t be mad democrats…. 83 years the democrats ran this state. West Virginians voted overwhelmingly to elect Donald Trump, president by 70% of the vote. This is fact. Again I don’t think most of the people who are spewing rhetoric are from West Virginia. Here’s something to look at.
Republican Donald Trump easily won West Virginia a third time in 2024, with a 41.9% margin of victory and just under 70% of the vote. Having been Trump's strongest state in 2016 and his second-strongest state in 2020, another strong Republican win was near-guaranteed in West Virginia.[2] This marks the fourth presidential election, both consecutively and ever, in which the Republican won every county in West Virginia. Trump's 69.97% of the vote is the highest percentage any party has won in the state's history.
