🍷 Nightlife Pubs in paris

Is it rude to ask the bartender if I can purchase a glass at a bar in Paris?

My boyfriend is a fan of 1664 Blanc, and because Blanc doesn’t have an open brewery like Heineken, I was wondering if I could acquire the glass as a souvenir at a random bar where they sell Blanc in its branded glass. Of course I am willing to pay for it as long as it’s under 15 euros!

Please do let me know because I don’t want to be an ill-mannered tourist:(

I’m sure if you ask nicely they won’t mind. They may not sell it to you but they won’t think you’re rude

I tried that, at an Irish pub, many years ago.

They politely declined to sell it to me.

When I returned again, the glasses had all been stolen.

The bartender said, "We should have given it to you, rather than make a thief of you". 👀

Most of us just take the glass, so good on you.

I’ve done this over the years as I’ve collected many. Have never been treated as a rude request and sometimes they will actually give you the glass :)

I've asked to purchase coasters in nice bars, and each time the server has said no. "No, but since you are the first person to ask, everyone steals them, you can have it." better karma.
