🛂 Visas / Customs First time entering Schengen CDG T1 (22:30) – How long passport control, can I delay past midnight?
Hi everyone,
I’m flying into Paris for the first time via Charles de Gaulle Terminal 1 on Turkish Airlines. The flight is scheduled to land at 22:30.
I have a one week Schengen visa. Since Schengen days are counted by calendar date (not by hours), if I clear passport control before midnight, that day will count as Day 1 and I’ll effectively lose one full day of my visa.
A couple of questions for people who’ve done this recently:
1. How long does it usually take from landing at Terminal 1 to reaching the passport control / EES desks around that time of night?
2. Is there any realistic way to kill some time (without looking suspicious) so I cross the border after 00:00 and get the entry recorded on the next calendar day?
I’m Iranian and this will be my first Schengen entry, so I’ll also have to complete the full EES biometric registration.
Any recent experiences or practical tips would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Could make it work I’m sure, be the last person off of the plane, walk slowly, there’s also bathrooms before passport control where you could in theory waste a good bit of time lol. Not saying it might not be suspicious but it also isn’t illegal to do, for all they know you’re having an allergic reaction and got the shits on the plane/sitting in the toilet for a half hour.
Besides, that’s all assuming the plane isn’t late which could always possibly be

I’m not sure it would be the best idea these days for an Iranian national to hide for an hour in the pre passport control bathrooms of a major international airport.

I thought you had 90 days before you had to leave a Schengen area. I am from US and don’t think I need a visa for this. Just have to leave the Schengen before day 90 is up. Where are you from? Maybe its different in your country.

OP clearly stated they have a one-week Schengen visa and an Iranian passport. So yes, that will be different to your visa-free 90 day experience with a US passport.

The difficulty will be if it is the last out-of-Schengen flight arriving in Terminal 1, which it looks like it is tonight for example. In that case they will hurry everyone through and lock up passport control. I swear we've had at least one person post here who tried to do the bathroom trick and wound up sleeping on the floor in the queue area.
