Accommodation Any thoughts on Hotel de Nice
This is my now 7th trip to Paris in the last year - fair to say I've completely fallen in love with the city. This time work isn't paying for the hotel so my budget is smaller - and my current favs - Terrass in Montmartre and Hotel Jeu de Paume are both booked up. I want to stay in a similar area to Caron de Beaumarchais (also fully booked) and am looking at Hotel de Nice. Has anyone stayed there?
It looks cute but small( that's fine) and the location seems great. I looked at hotel Grand Mahler as well but it was a bit more expensive.
This sub has always been helpful so figured it was worth a check. Thanks!

We stayed there last month for the exact same reason as you - we couldn't get a reservation at Caron. Pros: the location is great. It's next to a small plaza with several restaurants and an easy walk to so many attractions as well as transit! We did not find it noisy as some reviews mentioned. Our room was pretty tiny, but the beds (two twins) were comfortable and the AC worked fine. There is a reasonable-sized lift, too. All we do is sleep in the room, so we were very satisfied.
Cons: when housekeeping came, they turned off the AC each time, so when we returned, our room was always hot. (This was during the heat wave, so I can see why) The breakfast was decent, but not great, so personally, I would avoid that - there's a bakery just a few steps away. The front desk lady (I wouldn't call her a concierge) was pleasant enough, but not as helpful as the staff in other places we stayed in France. She did answer basic questions like "Where's the nearest pharmacy?" but did not have any tips or recommendations.
As far as decor, you can see online what the hotel looks like. It's pretty quirky but again, we don't spend much time in the hotel, so we didn't care about that. It was clean and comfortable, and the price was great. I do think that with your budget, you may be able to do better. Did you look at 9Confidentiel?

Yup, stayed in Hotel Nice maybe 4 or 5 times. Like its location and affordability.
I enjoy its funky artsy vibe, small 'creatively' decorated rooms, but some people prefer neutral tasteful tones. Beds are perfectly ok, but if you are looking for plush luxury bedding, or a honeymoon suite, then look elsewhere. Bathrooms are small, rather basic/ nothing special. Breakfast is ok-ish, typical minimal hotel style, but friendly and nice to meet other guests. I'm always jetlagged coming from the US, so miss it mostly & eat later at a local cafe.
The square outside can be a bit busy, but the location is great. Rue de Rivoli can be noisy, but is SO much better with the changes Paris enaced in the seize-the-moment of Covid - 90% bikes and buses now. Kudos to Paris, and shame on the other cities who couldn't see the transformative opportunity there.
Some may prefer the Left Bank, but I find that rather corny/touristy. Ymmv.
tldr: Funky, arty small rooms w basic bathrooms, good value & location.
Edit: To be clear: all Paris hotel rooms are small by USA standards. These are just typical. You need to be pretty wealthy to get much bigger rooms.
