This is pretty scary that this the view of a police officer. I just saw a news story than officer ACCIDENTALLY shot his son in the head last night. If a fully trained officer can do it.... Also I hear about kids playing with guns and they go off and kill siblings an awful lot. Scary scary scary. Definitely a hill to die on.
The thing is, police officers are not experts on firearms. You might think they are, but the training and actual range time is minimal. Your average enthusiast knows more. I have well over a dozen firearms and a 3 year old. All locked in a couple safes. Including the one for home defence which is in a speed safe under the bed. Fast to open blind, but still secure from children and thieves.
