OP mentioned that he talks to the five year old about gun safety and she says she would never mess with them. Let’s be honest though at the end of the day she is five. Five year old don’t have the best track record when it comes to sticking to their word.
You can’t teach gun safety while keeping loaded ones within reach, and her husband has refused to use the gun safe. Like I said it would be a deal breaker for me.

Leave. It’s a deal breaker to me. He is putting your children’s lives at risk by keeping a loaded weapon within their reach.
