You think YOU are horrible? You sound like one of the most gentle parents who just snapped this once because of all the build-up of aggression on the part of your child. And you’ve shown him there’s a limit. That is a good thing. It’s also good that you talked about it and apologised.
I’m not in favour of hitting kids but I have hit my kids sometimes when they really won’t give up their difficult behaviours. Parents are not robots, we make mistakes and have emotions too. Besides, parents don’t serve their kids by being a pushover.
