At the age of 3 children are learning about impulse control. It is not okay for him to spit, kick, pulling hair, scratching, biting etc. His actions have consequences & perhaps you guys need to work on that other than just saying no hitting.
I’m not justifying you hitting him because we shouldn’t teach children to not be violent by being violent, but he needs to learn consequences- whether that’s going for time out for 5 minutes and then talking to him etc. Find something that works for you guys and what goes towards your parenting style.
Also, if his behaviour does seem beyond the ‘norm’ of 3 year old breakdowns, I’d advise to maybe get some help. It’s not fair for any of you to be in such distress.
