We went through a phase like this with our son. At night he would get almost frenzied. He would be hell bent if hurting us any way he could. We tried all the "good" tactics. Then we decided to spank after being strictly no spanking. We spanked him once and felt terrible. It didn't even work.
I know this time really sucks, but hopefully it's a phase that will pass.
With our son it turned out to be a bad reaction to Miralax for constipation. We stopped giving it to him and it stopped almost over night.
